They accost him, curse him, threaten him with bogus charges and misinform him of his rights...I wish he would have told the Leo's that there ingorance of the law was not his fault. Hats off to him for tapeing the incident. These dumb asss cops made my blood boil with there stupidity.

Only thing that would have made it better if it was MT they stopped and told him he was breaking the  law...God I would love to hear that conversation.

Maybe not here, but I have heard it before.  OC is legal in Ohio, but may not be the smart thing to do.  In many cases, all it does is invite conversation with LE.  The sad part is that the police did not know the law and were extremely abusive and vulgar.  Not a good image.

We have had posts on the subject before.  My hat is off to the guy for taking action and defending his right to open carry.  God knows this issue needs it's own "Rosa Parks", but I have had more than one LEO tell me that they would find a reason to stop and ticket anyone trying to open carry.  The sad part is that this is Utah, probably one of the more advanced states in terms of 2A rights.

Thia happened in the city next to where I live. The officers involved have been reprimanded and the Ohioans for Concealed Carry Organization along with the Buckeye Firearms Association have gotten involved.
The police chief of Willowick has sent a letter to Ohio's AG urging that officers across the state be aware of the fact that open carry is in fact legal in the state of Ohio without a license. It also recently happened in the city of Northwood near Toledo in northwest Ohio.Toledo is notoriously anti 2A.
Both times the initial call in was made by another off duty LEO

Then this happened yesterday. A 33 year old officer was shot & killed during a traffic stop for loud music & driving under the influence. He leaves behind a wife, who is also an officer in a neighboring village, and a 3 1/2 month old daughter.

I know we all hear stories about this all the time, but how often do you get to be a fly on a wall and get to listen to what really happened and what was said. never?... I agree with some people that the police know you can open carry but they decide to give the people who do a rough time so they won't. I'm not saying thats what happened in this instance but I beleive  it does happen.

If this ever happens to you, immediatly call 911 and tell them someone is impersenating a police officer and that the person dressed as an officer is armed, give your location.  Inform the operator the person is making up laws, harrasing you, and if they attempt to detain you, you will do what is nesesary to not get kidnapped.  Then do what the operator says and ignore the officer or fake officer.   It is logical to assume that a person dressed like an officer is not, especially when they have gone beyond their job requirments.

Pretty sad display of their ignorance of the law by the LEOs. There's some info on the legal definition of "inducing panic" and "disorderly conduct" on this page describing the incident in more detail, about half-way down the page. It doesn't sound like his behavior provides cause for either charge.

The alarming thing for me was how cranked up the cop was. Ya see this more and more with cops. About 2 years ago (before I carried. so guns was not an issue) I got pulled over. Posted Bulivard speed was 55 reducing to 40 mph. I was approx 400 yards into the 40mph reduction and was pulled over for 53 in a 40. Cop was going the other way and did a full "brodie" turn w/lights and siren. I pulled over imeaditly. I had this pipsqueek cop unload on me for 20 minunets. I was starting to get worried that he was going to haul me in. Finally he gave me ticket is was for $145.00 which isnt much of a ticket these days and of course I was guilty as charged. Thats not my point. I hardly said a word but was upsetting how he acted.. He was a young guy and I though he was going to have a stroke.. In hind sight I wish I had brough this up with his commander. Most likely would have not gone anyware at all but would be noted for future issues. I'm hearing this kind of story more and more. Whats up with that?  I swear to god some of these pukes would work for free if "they'd" give them 2 guns!

BTW, I've never got a ticket that i didnt desirve and most of the cops were pretty cool and I have got away with alot more then I have ever been written up for.

mason you got that right some of them would work for free. i've know some cops that were cool but alot are punks. just a couple months ago i watched the cops ( 4 of them) grab a guy's arm behide his back. long story but the guy really didn't do anything people were even tring to tell the cops this.

what's your reaction when your arm is pulled where it's not suppose to go you jerk right. the cops slammed him to the ground and threw their knees hard into his back. and then said he was resisting arrest lol i believe it would have been worse if no wittenesses were there.

funny thing is theses 4 cops were all young guys i'd say early 20's remind you of the guys who got picked on in school. times change when i was a kid all the cops were tough guys but wouldn't give you any crap unless you gave them  a reason too. now it seems like the younger cops of today are looking for confrontation.

why are you sorry?  its ok to disagree.

Police have a job. the reality is most of them are power/thrill seeking people. I'm not saying its bad, just true.  the little bit of power goes to many of their heads.  they lecture when they should leave, they use force when they dont have to, they try to put people on the defense at most interactions and when it doesnt work they escalate situations that dont need to be.   look at mexican police and other devloping countries, they are corput and do terrible things to people.  could easily deteriate here to a similar situation unless they are held to standards and the bad ones that get caught get punished, you see it in the news weekly.  they need to be held to these high standards by their supperiors and citizens alike. this guy recording this convo did just that.  when officers act outside their responibilites, its not a bad thing to call 911 and say I dont think this is a real officer beacuse he just insalted me, or lied about the law, or anything that is outside of the responsibilites the state asks of them.  if that situation escalated and you were on the phone with 911, the truth would be out about that particular situation and how the officer reacted, sending the message to stay within the boundaries the state sets for them.  dont rely on others to do what they are supposed to, start doing that and you might as well stop CCW.
