    Not being used

I started this entire section as I belived  people would be interested.  For reasons I can't say Conner is unable to be as active as we had hoped .  Now I am not seeing any posting since June 25. I am considering closing out this entire section . Do to lack of interest  any one have  something to say

    Re: Not being used

We would rather post in the tech section..Heh Big Smile [:D]

Well I just learned 2 minutes ago we even had a Survival Techniques and Guidelines section. I'm guilty of just useing the active post menu. My idea of survival is making sure I have 2 cartons of smokes and 4 cases of Pepsi at all times. I'm of to go read the post in that section because I think that times warrent really thinking about being prepaired, hope it stay's.

    Re: Not being used

I suppose I underutilize this site.  I go to the active discussions, not the forums themselves.  But now that I know its here I have alot of questions I'd like answered.  For exmple, in the case of a state of emergency is called by the govenor or President, how does that affect the use of firearms.  I mean, we can shoot in California in the case of arson, but do we have more or less flexibility in pertaining to laws governing lethal force.  I know De facto, we will do what is needed to protect life and limb of ourselves and our own.  But how does the law interpret a state of emergency?

    Re: Not being used

I can only speak for myself here but I do bet alot of us work mainly out of the "active" and "my post" columns. When Conner was "feeding" the survival techn it was in those columns alot. Now its not.. Lately, I'm trying to "reprogram" myself as to how I'm using Bersa Talk and I'm trying to seek more information from the forum side and not just live in the active column. I would bet alot of us here are like that. MT, if its a matter of excessive matianance for you to keep Survival up then I'm not sure what to suggest but otherwise I'm betting if let alone it will seek its own higher level of usage. Specally after summer vacations and rat race when everybody get their brain back.  I for one, dont have alot to add to that topic and its serious enough that I dont want to goof it up too bad. but I do learn quite a bit and enjoy reading the posts there. Ok, now ya got my .02 worth.. Thanks

    Re: Not being used

Lately, when I'm online, I am also trying to ride herd over a couple of 20 month old toddlers, so I don't really have much time to do much of anything these days, let alone think of stuff to post that might draw some interest.  Otherwise, there would be at least some activity in the Survival section.

Hello to Conner for us.  We miss her!

    Re: Not being used

For myself, I do wander around all of the boards and read.  I worry about posting in certain places and saying things that could cause me to appear as though I am a nutcase with a weapon and no common sense.  For me, I think the term Survivalist is associated too closely with events like Ruby Ridge in my brain.  I would worry about spelling out, in terms of the armageddon, what you plan to do to protect you and yours.  It could possibly bite you in the butt if you ever do need to use your weapon in self-defense if a good DA is itching to prosecute.

As far as the forum section, it would depend on the work involved for you Michael.  If it busts your balls and isn't being used, do what needs to be done.

    Re: Not being used

I can say that I did enjoy reading the posts in this column....most were educational to say the least. Anytime that I can learn something I am a willing participant....If there is an issue with maintenance or storage space, then I will say, with hesitation, I might add, that the best thing to do is to close it off.....I know that there are a lot of people, members (myself included) and guests that do go back and refer to older posts from time to time....Last, I would like to say that I do miss Conner...I believe that she added value to the quality of the posts here, + she was fun and interesting.....just my .02.

    Re: Not being used

I browse here when the topic is active. I have never posted here simply because I have nothing to contribute. I'll admit I'm ill prepared for a SHTF scenario other than 7 day or so post hurricane survival.

When it comes to the material dealt with here, I (like possibly many here) can only listen and learn from those (few) members who are really knowledgable on the subject.

    Re: Not being used

My presence overall is going to be pretty thin for the next 3 weeks, but I think this section is worthwhile and am always happy to impart the tiny dribbles of knowledge I posses. I just won't be Johnny on the spot looking at this board 50 times a day like I usually do. Smile [:)]

    Re: Not being used

I really find this section interesting and informative. After I've gone through all the new posts I try to dive in here and make sure I've read them all. I'd keep it. Interest seems to come in waves.

    Re: Not being used

Hey M-T, I've enjoyed the section alot and kept checking it for new info, but like most of the rest of my life I tend to keep my posts shut and be thougt an idiot rather than to post and remove all doubt.

    Re: Not being used

I don't mind if you guys think I'm a nut.  I will contribute some of the crazy stuff I've heard when ever it comes to mind.  Plus I think this post will become more popular with time, waves is probably right.  This is a firearms site, some people just haven't put two and two together, survival is why have a gun in the first place.  Whether it be city or wilderness a firearm of sorts is a high priority in survival situations in my book.
