    IAG coach gun

A while back I talked about getting a coach gun.  Well, I was at my local gun store and they have a iag coach gun.  12 guage, 3 inch, 18.5" barrel.  It is under the stoegar/IAG name, made in Brazil.  No external hammers.  The down side it was dirty as all get out, Goodness knows how long it was like that.  It is $410 plus fees.  There are other coach guns out there, but this one is a little older.  Does anyone have a feeling if this is worthwhile?

I, as always, value your opinions.

I considered a coach gun for home defense and finally bought a Remington 870 HD. I don't know how you plan to use the coach gun, but IMO the pump gun did more for me. The coach guns are really nice, though.

    Re: IAG coach gun

The coach gun advanage is its shorter than a  18" barrel  pump   double has no  reciver    Also 2 very fast shots with practice.   I have a 870 wingmaster cut to 18  and I will grab my coach gun every time  I am must better with it  than the pump  In fact all my shot guns other than 870 are doubles 870 hardly ever used.

I have a Savage double, but I still like the 6+1 in my 870, it gives me enough to share with everyone! It is true about the length, but 2 fast shots and then you you have a club, not a gun unless you are holding another loaded piece.  I can reload my double pretty fast, but not as fast as the pump action can. I also like the ability to load xtra rounds after firing a few. Hope I never need all 7.

Yes I only have 2 . I really would like to meet these Bad a ss people who watch 1 or 2 of their group drop and still want to press on to steal my STUFF   When lead starts fly punks start looking for the exit.  These are not soliders on a combat mission. Their a . were a bad a ss because we have numbers  reduce that number a couple and  they will retreat.   BG want to steal , rape, rob and  be bad . But they don't want shot  . Their not that dumb. Even druggies don't want a lead belly Remember their looking for a easy target . In SHTF nobody will want to be shot because medical treatment will be very scarce Want me digging out a bullet from you belly  I don't think so. .  I also back my shotgun with a pistol.  In case their is a 3rd fool.

Maybe it' s the way I'm built , but a pump doesn't fit me well.  Its uncomfortable.  A coach is perfect for my arms and build.  I also like the simpicity of them.  I didnt ask, but , since I have a wife whose recoil shy and a young boy, I might want to get a 20 gauge.  I just like the flexibility with a 12 gauge. Good points all of you.  I agree with MT with a pistol back up, like a Bersa

    Re: IAG coach gun

If you really want a SHTF shottie, try a Saiga 12 with 18.5" barrel, semi-auto made on AK platform, 10 round mags, recoil not too bad.  Over 500 rounds through mine, no hiccups.  They are currently hard to come by.  A little heavy though, 9 lbs plus ammo.  The Saiga 20 is easier to find and cheaper at about $360 NIB in my favorite Little gun shop in Lubbock, Tx, right now it is tough to find the 12 under $800.  You can empty 10 in 2.5 seconds, but will have you taking a couple of steps backwards.

Go with the 12ga. and  use 2 3/4 high brass shells in #6 or #8 and they should be fine.

Take a look at the EAA BOUNTY HUNTER or the REMINGTON SPARTAN Coach guns before you decide. go to www.budsgunshop.com and check'em out. They are under the $400 price range.
