That is very disturbing if they in fact failed to notify anyone of known problems that could result in injury or possibly death if the weapon failed to function properly when needed. It is bad enough not informing the public, but police departments that issue these weapons to their employees who rely on them daily to perform  when necessary and could end up dead or seriously injured due to a malfunction is inexcusable.I wonder how many of these guns have been fixed and how many are still out there being relied on for personal protection.

    Re: I just love Glocks

I read the headline of this thread and thought "michael t has run out of his meds."  Then I read the links and was even more disgusted.  Just another reason Glock won't ever get any of my money.

My cousin was just commenting on getting a glock this weekend and I told him not to.  I will send him a link to this disussion.  Thanks Mike for the links, great marketing is what makes Glocks great, not the weapon.

    RUTGERS95:

I hate Glock with a passion.  I will never own one, and if I'm lucky I'll never touch one.  I, too, agree that Glock has the best marketing department in the industry.  If Glock fell off the face of the earth tomorrow, I'd throw a party to celebrate! Party!!! [<:o)]  [I really would, too!]

That said, however, if you're implying that Glocks are only good because their marketing department says they are, then I must disagree.  That's like saying Bersas are lousy guns because they're inexpensive.  I know too many people who genuinely love their Glocks to say they're bad guns.  Other than the 1911, and possibly the Beretta 92 (because it's the standard U.S. military sidearm), there probably isn't any gun that has come under more scrutiny than Glock.  Are Glocks overrated?  Heck yeah, in my opinion they are.  Are they bad guns?  Much as I'd like to say otherwise, I'm afraid the answer is no.  Are there better guns?  It's subjective... but in my opinion yes.

Bersas are great guns ("especially for the price"... seems everyone always has to add that caveat), but would they stand up to a Glock in a side-by-side torture test?  I'd love to think so--I love Bersa--but there's a Tech Talk forum filled with reports of problems experienced by users, way too many of them with brand new guns.  Normally I attribute "new gun" problems to user error (read the manual, right?), but this many is hard to ignore.  I've also personally experienced a problem once with my Firestorm that has never happened with any other gun, and had to send it to CGW for repair.  So honestly, I don't know how Bersa would fare in a torture test.  Does it matter?  No, not really; at least not to me.  "Statistically" speaking, I'll only have to fire my pistol 2-3 times if the you-know-what hits the fan.  That's all I care about, not some "freeze the gun, dump sand into the action, run it over with a truck, and let's see what happens after 10,000 rounds without cleaning" torture test.  So I keep my pistol clean and in proper working order, use decent ammo, and everything usually works the way I want it to.  Glock owners can say the same thing... but their pistol has undergone more "testing" than Bersas.

Seems to me he's just the messanger  collects information on many pistols and post it.

He is a glock owner by the way.  I also suppose the In. State police are idiots as are other police Deptments that are having trouble with their NEW pistols.

See the problem is Glock knows their are problems But because they advertise" Perfection ", they seen to disreguard the poor common man when a serious problem. Only large orders seem to know about the recall that isn't called a recall.

I am glad that S&W and others are getting  back what they lost.  A little at a time . As cities and police find out all isn't Perfection in glock world..

Is he a idiot and a Glock hater  check his replie here.

    Re: I just love Glocks

Bullwinkle, I'm not implying they are not good, just not great like all the mimicking parrots profess.  Glock has probably the best marketing departing in the firearms industry.  I'd be willing to bet a Sig, an XD, and perhaps a few others out there would stand up to the torture tests used on the Glock.  Glocks are good guns, just not the be all end all too many people that they are.  The only firearm in history with the absolute reliability is the AK, Glock is not the handgun equivalent imo.

Plus, it just feels so uncomfortable in my hand and unwieldy.......

Of course a Glock pistol isn't perfect. That's a marketing line. Dean Speir is an idiot because he's taken a handful of KB stories and made an internet shrine for Glock haters. And yes, their customer service sucks. They're Austrian.Wink [;)] I had the choice of an XD, S&W MP, or Glock, and I bought a Glock because of the three: it's the best pistol. Since that decision; I've been pleased.

     More than a hand full

Here this is old but goes with what Ive been saying about Glock and their marketing to police

also their troubles you never hear about.

Granted it old news but does show how they  conduct themselves .  Notice this is 1992 and the dam guns are still blowing up  TODAY

REMEMBER GLOCK DOESN'T HAVE A RECALL JUST A UPGRADE AND ALWAYS SEEM TO BE FOR POLICE ONLY     NOT OWNERS.

Massachusetts State Police reportedly turned down a Glock offer
of over 2000 FREE pistols (valued near $1 million) and instead
opted to BUY the Sig pistols.

o       Testing of Glock .40, .45 and 10mm pistols by independent quality
inspection firms say that the Glock pistols are contributory
factors in Glock blow-ups that are caused by reloaded ammo.  The
article did not mentioned about Glock 9mm pistols.  One article
mentioned "not enough chamber support above the feed ramp" as
            a factor in blow-ups.

o       Slam-fire problems plus the above problems are the reasons for the
largest Glock upgrade (about 320,000 pistols which was manufactured
            before Oct. '91).

o       The article also goes on mentioning that '92 is the most difficult
year for Glock, with frequent problems of slam-fire and blow-ups
reported in from the law enforcement and civilian markets.  Karl
Walters did not deal with these problems fast enough and thereby
unable to suppress the media impact.  I guess this will hurt Glock
in present and future sales (as illustrated by the Mass State Police
            deal).

If you own a glock and like it fine. I won't buy or support a company that  has recalls for only select customers , Claim their guns are perfect and far from it , Settles lawsuits out of court and makes the victim sign papers to NEVER  say amount or why they paid . This way they can claim they never lost in court .  They cut these low price or free gun deals with Police and pass the loss on to you the customer who buying because you belive police know and only buy the best guns.

This sounds like the Bush administration. You may be on to something. Any ties between Glock and Haliburton? Yes I like my Glock. And yes, they are a *** company, but what large company isn't?Ever heard of Exxon-Mobil? Every gun forum has got guys pissed off by Smith & Wesson, or bagging on Ruger. It's our god given right to do that.
