    P3AT or P32?

I am gettin' a hankerin' for one of these tiny pistols for ultra low profile carry. (mumble, mumble, Disney, mumble, mumble)

I also have the idea of getting my wife to carry with it.  Anyone have suggestions.  I would pick the 380 for me, but recoil will turn my wife OFF!  Should I just buy them both????Stick out tongue [:P]  Should I drop back and start her on a 22 or 25auto?  The only 25 I have is an old Tanfoglio/Excam single action (unsafe).  Are there any really good 25s out there?

    Hi Jes,

I own a P3AT and have shot the P32 a few times. The 32 has quite a bit less bite then the 380. I also have a small 25 and I wouldnt waste my time with that if I were you, stick with the 32 or 380... Heck just get em both. Save the anguish. Good Luck

    Re: P3AT or P32?

At present I am sitting here with my P-32 in pocket   The 380 might be to much recoil for your wife. Conner likes her P-32 thats why we have 2 of them . The 380 I bought because of BT and trying to find a KT that didn't work So I could bad mouth it. . So I now have 3.

The KT's have one thing you must learn Its the trigger must be allowed to fully reset . Or when you fire 2nd round it will lite primer strike. Some people Say their gun is broke then you explain this to them  all is well.

As for the 380 verses 32  I really want to meet they BG that will be able to tell you the difference from these short barreled pistols.

Their is the so called rim lock problem with these lite weight  32 pistols . Easy to fix. Get the rimlock kit from KT , Shoot only ball ammo.  or  load chamber with Corbon HP and top round in mag with Corbon then rest of mag ball.    I have rim lock kit and I also have ball mag . I can carry all of the above.

Notice I said Corbon in 32  Why   http://www.goldenloki.com/ammo/gel/32acp/gel32acp.htm

used a KT and Corbon HP was only one the expanded every single time It also had good  FPS and FTLBS THE OTHERS HP'S DIDN'T .

If you can find a Beretta  DA/SA in 25  their a nice 25 auto  . But will be as much as a P-32 in price used and not much difference in size .

I have 3 Berettas in25  2  950 Jetfires  one made in Italy still NIB . Made before 1980  Started makeing in America in 1980 and added the thumb safety (why I don't know lawyers maybe) I also have the Model 21 DA/SA . All three tip up barrel and no extractor.  Some don't like that  Iam not bothered by it .

I have a LNIB Excam I bought new last year. Dealer found in bottom of safe under other stuff . Was brand new I bought for 50 bucks fired 1 mag and put away

Over all I would get the KT .

    Re: P3AT or P32?

I am having trouble with my P32 again. It is peening bad on the frame behind the extractor. Also the take down pin is going in too far and scratching up the slide so it looks like hell. I am very dissastisfied with it at this point. Won't manually extract some ammo either. Looks like another trip back to Kel-Tec.
Ammo for it costs more than any other caliber. That sucks big time.
On the other hand, my P3AT and P11 work fine and i am very happy with them. i can wear my P3AT IWB with a halter top and it doesn't show.
Just my way of sharing info on your choices.

jes, here is my opinion for what it's worth.

before i got my hard chrome p32, i checked in here and spent COUNTLESS hours reseaching both the p32 and p3 over on ktog.  generally, i would have preferred to have gotten the p3 if for no other reason that being able to use the same ammo as my bersas.  i was MUCH put off with the duribility issues and the need for alot of p3's to be "fluffed and buffed" before they would be reliable shooters.  i beleive the p32 predated the p3.  imo, some of the problems with the p3 are due to kt not designing that pistol fresh from the start but attempting to "stretch" the p32 into a .380.  of course, the good news is that for any problems that DO crop up, kt's customer service is exemplary.

contrary to the p3, i was unable to find ANY SYSTEMATIC problems WHATSOVER being reported with the p32's.  (and to clarify, NO that doesn't mean that they are 100% problem free, for EVERY pistol, it just means i could find no common reoccurring duribility situations like existed at least a year ago with the p3).

THAT (in addition to michealt's obeservation re; ballistic similarity of the p32 to the p3) was the main reason i went with the p32.

and, i would do it all over again today.

and as has been mentioned, i agree that your wife MAY have a problem with the "snappy" recoil of the p3.

    Re: P3AT or P32?

I love my P3AT when I can't carry anything else.  I like the interchangeability of the ammo and have had 0 problems out of the box.  I also have an antique 32 from my Grandpa which is wonderful to have but the cost of the ammo will break you.  I don't know, I guess I could get the dies for the 32 and reload but that would be touchy for me and the small size of the round.  Everything is magnified with even less room for error.  Best leave well enough alone and just treasure the 80 year old rememberance.  Ramble, ramble...........
