Gap at extractor?

I received my new American Classic 1911 yesterday. and I see the same gap others have commented on the 1911 forum. Is this something they are building in these new guns like some sort of a loaded chamber indicator? check out the attached pictures (via link below) and advise disposition in this. I may have a problem here.
