    Mag question

I just got my UC 9 yesterday. I cleaned it last night and when I went to load the mags both did not want to take over 4-5 rounds. I sprayed both of them with electronic contact cleaner to get the gunk out, this seemed to help as I was able to get the full load in them. I was not sure about taking them apart and didn't know what to look for if I did or what to lube. Also is there a speed loader for these mags? 13 rounds will wear your fingers out.

    Thanks

    Dave

    Re: Mag question

Most magazines get very hard to load near their capacity. There are a number of loaders available. The best I have found is called "UpLula". It is expensive, about $35, but works for most magazines in most calibers. They are a little hard to find in stock though. I found mine on EBay. There is a video on YouTube showing the UpLula in use that is quite impressive (the guy is FAST).

    Re: Mag question

I had the same problem others here have had with loading the 9mm mags.

The 5th round would not go in. What I found was to dissassemble the magazine (watch which way things are oriented) then use fine grit emery cloth and smooth the sides of the feedeer platform.

You can see the exploded diagram in the owners manual, for reference.

There was a rough spot on mine that would not let the platform go below the notch in the magizine. smoothed this out an everything works fine now. No Problems.

    Re: Mag question

My FireStorm Mini 40 mags worked great out of the box/wrapper, but I always clean new guns & magazines before using them to get all the packing grease & crud off.  The magazines are easy enough to disassemble.  PM if you need help with that.  As mentioned, pay particular attention to which way things go back together.  Clean the components like you would any other part of the weapon, but don't over-lube anything.  I'm not sure exactly what the issue is, but apparently with some lubes (WD-40 was mentioned in particular) the stuff can penetrate into the primers of your ammo and render them useless, which defeats the purpose of carrying a pistol.  Might be an old wives' tale for all I know, but I've heard it from reputable sources.  Lubing shouldn't be necessary anyway; but if you do lube, make sure to wipe off any excess and you should be okay.

WD-40 is a horrible lubricant, because it wasn't designed to do that. It's great at penetrating tight spots, loosening rust, and displacing water. Consequently, it's very good at penetrating primers in ammo and ruining it. If you have a really badly rusted gun, use WD-40 to get rid of it if you want, but don't use it for lubricant. There are a zillion products out there that do a way better job of lubricating.

There are other mag loaders out there that are very functional and a lot less expensive than $35. I had one for a while for my BT380, when the new mags were pretty stiff. They make them for 9mm double stack mags too. Give me a minute, because I can't think of the product name right now. I must be having a senior moment. Smile [:)]Tongue Tied [:S]

Okay, I found it, it's HKS magazine loaders. You won't find Bersa listed, but the Thunder 9 resembles a Walther p-88. Hope this helps.

I found mine at a local range, and I bet you could find one too. Seems like it was around $11.
