Houston Paddle Holster for Thunder 9 UC -- User Reviews?

    Assistance needed...

Anyone have the Houston paddle holster (#RP43) for the Thunder 9 UC?  I'm thinking of purchasing it and wanted to get some (real) user comments/reviews first ;-)

Thanks in advance for the assistance

I have one for my mini firestorm 40 and like the holster. They do the job they were intended to do,and for the price you can not go wrong,in my opinion. There have been other posts on this holster and you will find that there are as many that like it as do not.I would say purchase one and see for yourself. What works for one doesn`t work for others.I hope this helps.

Thanks for the comments, jc40.  Can you please tell me how high on and snug to the waist this holster holds your firestorm mini?  Is the fit snug but able to be drawn smoothly?

    Thanks again for the info.!

Absolutely. The butt of the gun is 3 inches above the top of my belt, and the gun is held right next to my side, with the bottom of the barrel just above the opening of my pants pocket.I have worn this holster many times with just a tee shirt untucked, and the gun was not noticable at all.As a matter of fact, when i first recieved the holster,i wore it to a friends house with just a tee shirt covering it,and my friend had no idea i was even wearing my gun.I had to show him that i had it on.The holster holds the gun really well in my opinion, and is drawn with slight inward pressure while pulling the gun out of the holster, and yes,it is a smooth draw.Again.It is a twenty dollar holster and i think it is worth the investment, but i believe you won`t go wrong if you purchase one.I hope this helps.

Jc40, sounds like a good holster for the money.  Thanks for the info.  One last question...How is it merely in terms of being a paddle holster?  I've only ever owned belt loop style and am concerned that a paddle version might be unintentionally removed upon draw.  Also, does it stay in place while moving around w/ everyday activities?

When you put the holster on,the paddle or part of the holster that is placed over your belt and waist band of your pants and rests between your pants and side, has a lip that will not allow the holster to be pulled out when drawing your weapon. It will stay in place while you wear it during everday activities and one of the benefits of a paddle holster is that you do not have to unbuckle your belt to take the holster off.I have found them to be very comfortable and have worn mine all day with no troubles what so ever.

Hey jc40, I took your advice and ordered this holster online yesterday.  Hopefully I'll have it Sat. or Mon.  I'll let you know what I think of it.

Hey ralmanza.I think you will like it.It isn`t an expensive holster, but i like the fact that you can take the holster and gun off without removing your belt.I have had mine for over a year now and it still works great and is nice when i have to pick up the kids from school.I just take it off and lock it up while i am in the school and just slide it back on when i get in the car.Look forward to your report.

Re: Houston Paddle Holster for Thunder 9 UC -- User Reviews?

Jc40, I got the holster today and wore it to the range and briefly out in public to a couple stores.  I was very surprised to see it's a hardened polymer; for some reason I was thinking it would be more rubber-like.  I do like how my UC 9mm literally snaps into place when put in the holster.  It holds fairly close to my body and like you said, stays in place.  It did print out on my t-shirt a bit, but probably more noticeable to me b/c I'm looking at that spot on my hip.  I think I would do good w/ some larger shirts.  I'm new to concealed carry so all my shirts actually fit like they are supposed to.

What do you do to best conceal yours w/ this holster?

Re: Houston Paddle Holster for Thunder 9 UC -- User Reviews?

Hey ralmanza.Glad to hear you like the holster.I usually go up one shirt size with all my holsters, unless the weather is cooler and allows a light jacket.Unless the shirt is real tight, most people will never notice when you are wearing anyways.Being new to concealed carry tends to make us self conscious for a little while, but before long it will become second nature just like putting on a watch and you won`t think about it like you are now.
