    45UC Range Report

I got my new Thunder45UC out to the range.  I couldn't be happier!  It is a sweet shooting little gun!!!

Recoil is very manageable with it, better then I thought it would be.  I kept all my shots, at 7 and 10 yards, in a hand sized group.  I'm sure as it breaks in, and I get better, that will improve.  I even limp wristed a couple times, I was focusing on the target and not paying attention, and it never jammed.

Feeding the first round with the first two mags I put in it, it seemed to hang up a little, but after the third mag it never did that again.

All in all, it seems like a very accurate, reliable, fun gun to shoot.

    Re: 45UC Range Report

Glad to hear it all went well, Panther!  What load were you using?  I also had a few "hesitations" when my gun was new, after around 600 rounds thru it it cycles like warm butter.  I'm still impressed at how smooth and relatively light the DA trigger is, the SA is kind of creepy but predictable, and I'm still getting used to it.  I didn't carry mine until I had over 300 rounds through it, the only glitches I had were with hot 230-grain loads, which occasionally bounced the gun upwards hard enough to put the slide lock on.  Using lighter bullets has solved the problem, even with the hottest loads.

Most of my practice loads use a max charge of WST under a 200-SWC, and the accuracy still surprises me if I don't yank the trigger.  One magazine full put all eight shots in a single ragged hole about the size of a half-dollar, proof that the gun is a lot more accurate than most of us holding it.  I don't worry about warm loads, the gun is very well-designed and plenty strong, the limiting factor is me, and how fast I can recover from the recoil.  After shooting mostly warm 38's for five years, it's a bit more abrupt than I'm used to!

What part of the State of Misery do you call home?

I was shooting Magtech 230gr. FMJ.

The trigger does take a little getting used to, but I like it.

I live down in SW MO., between Springfield and Joplin.

I love my Bersa .45 UC too.  I had to send it in to Royce Honeycutt for FTExtract problems, but with less than 200 rounds through it now, it is flawless using MagTech ammo.  After I get a few more boxes of MagTech run through it, I think it will be even better and might be able to use the rougher ammo too.  Here's a LINK to a few photos:

Sorry, I had that LINK in my previous message (above) password protected by default.  It's fixed.  You can now view the photos.

My photo storage site, Phanfare, recently upgraded their site and downgraded their useability.  Here's a new link to Bersa 45 UC photos of a failure to extract and some targets at 50 ft. with Magtech ammo.

    Re: 45UC Range Report

That .45 should be an accurate additions.  One of the reasons is the distance on the sight plane.  My .45 Mini Firestorm (same gun for all practical purposes) is about 1" longer than on my Bersa BT380 duo-tone.  That translates into a "finer" sighting.

Here is from the other day, a 5 shot group on a targe 15' distant.

Have fun with it and it will serve you well..... I have forseen it.
