    UC 10rd mag rattling

I was wondering if anyone had found a fix for the 10 rd mags rattling or if people could suggest another clip that worked well. Unfortunately I live in NY so the new 13 rd clips are illegal. I bought a promag clip for it but that thing hangs an inch out of the gun which is inconvenient for carrying

    Thanks
    Matt

The promag 10 round clips are (as you probably know) designed for the 17 round full size thunder 9.

I don't have an answer for your question.  My 10 round mag rattles whenever fully loaded.  The 13 doesn't ... but I guess that's not an option for you.

    Thanks anyways.
Its too bad, I really don't want to sell the gun but I can't picture myself carrying around 9rd mags.

    Re: UC 10rd mag rattling

If I work at it I can hear my 10 rd mag rattle, but I have never noticed it while carrying. I have to get pretty aggro with mine in the pistol to make any noise. I didn't notice whether the13 rattled or not, I didnt own it long enough (I stepped on it after a reload and bent the lips to hell, oops).
    How serious is this rattle?

It’s not that bad, you can hear one, maybe two rounds rattling around in there. That my only real problem with the gun. I think I’m just really mad that there are 13 rd clips out there and I can’t buy them. So every time I hear the rattle it reminds of it.

    Re: UC 10rd mag rattling

I know I am replying to a very old post but I'm wondering if you ever were able to get your 10 round mag from rattling.  I recently purchased a new UC9 and it came with a 13 round mag.  I couldn't find another 13, so I purchased an extra 10 round mag.  When fully loaded with 10 rounds, it rattles pretty bad.  If I remove one cartridge, then the rattling is totally gone.  I guess since I'm only carrying it as an extra, I could remove one cartridge and be good to go.  Chances are if I never get in a situation where I empty both mags, then the difference between 22 or 23 rounds won't make much difference.

Besides, once that gun starts going BANG-BANG-BANG, I don't think anyone's gonna notice that mag rattling.  LOL!

Or maybe not. I have a vision of you explaining to the investigating officer, "Well, I guess the rattling of my 10 round mag was so irritating, this guy attacked me. That's why we should legalize 13 round mags in this state!"

I have a UC 10 round mag, too. I just loaded it up and checked it out, and sure enough it rattles. Not the 13 rounders. I inserted it into the gun and went for a short walk. Never heard the mag rattling. When I got home I took the gun out of the holster and shook it a little, and it rattles if you shake it.

Then I pushed that top round down into the mag as far as I could, about the depth of half a round, and the mag quit rattling. I'm not kidding. It doesn't rattle now.

Thanks for the reply.  I'll try pushing down on the top round when I get home from work.  If it still rattles..............so be it.  At my age, I have to quit "sweatin' the small stuff".  Besides, it's almost spring in Michigan.  I guarantee I'll never hear the rattle over the straight pipes on my Fat Boy.

    Re: UC 10rd mag rattling

I have a 13 round UC9.  Mag doesn't rattle with 13 in it but chamber 1 round and 12 left in mag will rattle.  My solution - release mag add 1 round ( back to 13 in mag ) and no more rattle.

My FS mags also rattle, at different load levels (6, 10, 16). Anybody knows why this happens? I can't find a logical explanation (admittedly I'm not that much of a mechanical thinker). You add or remove a bullet and the rattling stops.

I found that hitting the mag against my palm in different directions usually fixes the problem. I don't know if by this I'm compressing, re-arranging, moving, shaking the rounds or what!

    Re: UC 10rd mag rattling

I have the 10 round mag and it rattles at 8 and 10 round.  My guess is that it is the position of the follower at the even numbers when the spring is at higer tention.  The reason that it doesn't rattle on the 13 round mags at full capacity and does with one less for the same reason.  I don't know alot about guns but it makes since to me. Can you find a replacement follower for the 10 rounders any where?
