    Shipping a gun

So I had to send my gf's Taurus revolver back for service.  I took care of the DA light primer strikes and while I was test firing it I noticed it was shaving little pieces of copper jacket from the bullet as it entered the forcing cone.  I mentioned it to her and she said "oh, is that what that is, it's done that since I've had it." Huh? [:^)]  Since I have absolutlely no idea how one adjusts timing on a revolver off it went.

Anyway on to the subject of the thread.  I boxed it up and got on UPS.com.  I filled out the info for shipping a package (with a declared value that will replace the firearm if anything happens), printed a label, and arranged to have it picked up at my house.  There was nothing on the form that asked what the contents were and I didn't feel inclined to tell them.  I shipped it regular ground and it cost me about $17 with the insurance and home pickup.  Two hours later the nice UPS man came and took it away... easy as pie Big Smile [:D]

I've been told that it is completely legal for me to send it in myself but the repair center has to send it back to the address it was shipped from, hence me using the home pickup option.

Anyway, I just wanted to let people know how easy it is and that it doesn't have to cost $75 to ship your firearm overnight.
