Mini Firestorm vs. Thunder UC grips

    Hi,

I was comparing the Firestorm and the Thunder UC and see that the Firestorm mentions rubber grips while the Thunder refers to some Polymer (plastic) grip. Can anybody confirm that?
    Thanks,

    Axel

Re: Mini Firestorm vs. Thunder UC grips

The only ones that come with rubber grips standard are the Firestorm 380 and 22, and the Bersa Thunder 380 Plus (15 round pistol). All others come standard with polymer grips, inluding the Firestorm Mini 9, 40, and 45. Rubber grips are available for the Bersa Thunder 380 (7 round standard pistol). Sometimes Gander Mountain sells a special edition BT380 that comes with rubber grips.

Hope this helps. Welcome to Bersa Talk.

Thank you for the welcome and the info. I am still trying to decide which one I like better - now that the grips aren't a factor anymore.

    Thanks again,

Okay, I just noticed that this was posted in the 45UC forum, so you we're talking about the differences between the 45UC and the Firestorm Mini 45, presumably.

    Click photos to enlarge.

      Here's a BT45UC in stainless.

Here's a Firestorm Mini 45, made in the same factory as the Bersa Thunder 45 UC. There's only a couple of differences on the surface, namely the trigger guard shape and the front strap finger grooves in the Firestorm. All internal parts are identical and interchangeable. It comes with a lifetime warranty as well.

I don't believe the Firestorm is available in stainless, but I'm not 100% sure of that.

Yes, it is. The Firestorm seems to be a little harder to find but that's about it. In the end it boils down to personal taste - and I like the Firestorm better. Now if there is somebody who handled both and can tell me whether the finger grooves make a difference that would be great.

    Thanks,

Well, I haven't handled a Firestorm Mini 45, but I own a Thunder 45UC and a 9UC. The 9UC has the grooved front strap like the Mini 45. I like it better. If I had my 'druthers, I'd have the grooved front strap on the 45. The 45UC grip isn't any wider side to side than the 9UC, but it is slightly longer from front strap to back strap, so finger grooves would help, I think.

I'm curious about what you meant when you said "Yes, it is. The Firestorm seems to be a little harder to find but that's about it." Were you responding to my statement that I don't believe the Firestorm is available in stainless? I base that on the fact that SGS mentions matte, duotone and nickel finishes, but doesn't mention stainless. Why do you think otherwise, if that's what you're saying?

Re: Mini Firestorm vs. Thunder UC grips

They call the stainless "two tone" at firesorm. I was lucky to see both of them side by side at a gunstore and they looke pretty much identical (except for the obvious front strap and trigger guard). I handled one the other day. The grip feels a little chunky in my hands - kinda like my Makarov with Pearce Grips. But, other then that I love it. I'll order a Firestorm in nickel and give y'all a report when I get it.

    Cheers,

    Axel

Welcome, axwhipmaker!  I have the Mini FireStorm in .45 in nickel.  It's a shooter!  example of yesterday's target:

It's a scanned image in jpeg so not quite a good as if I had taken it with my Nikon D80, but you should get the idea. *S*

Other than a Hogue pull-on rubber grip, no.
