Hidding gun in house for quick deployment

I would like to hide my Bersa 380 in my night stand and I am looking for ideas and suggestions. One idea is to buy a holster and mount it in the first drawer by screwing it to the bottom of the table top. I figure a crook would look through the drawer and not feel the pistol mounted on the top but I would be able to access it.

Second thought is to mount a magnetic strip to the top of drawer.

    Any Ideas?

I have a V-line quick access safe.  It is easy to get into fast and secures the firearm.  If you have kids around, its vital to secure it.

Maybe you could use velcro along with a nylon web holster instead of magnet or screws. Might be easier on you, your dresser, and your Bersa. If kids are around, you may need to come up with another idea, though. Good luck.

If you have kids at home, you can't just hide the guns, you absolutely must secure them.

I have several ready guns hidden in different locations in the house because my wife won't carry. We don't have kids living at home, so we don't have to worry about securing them. When we leave for overnight or longer, the ready guns go back in the safe and the safe is secured.

We have a BT380 in the nightstand drawer in a pocket holster. Another gun is on top the fridge. Another is within arm's reach of her desk. And I carry, even at home, until I go to bed. If we had kids living at home, we would have each ready gun in a quick access safe.

Home invasion robberies are becoming more prevalent and I'm not willing to be an unarmed helpless victim.

If you don't have kids in the house to worry about, consider a hollowed out book. Even a relatively small book will hold a P3AT nicely.

Sportsmans Guide has some picture frame and clock gun hideouts.  The clock is nice, but a smart criminal will find it.

In my experience of being robbed (which sucks by the way), they will find it.  Finding your hidden stuff is their job, it's all they do and they are better at finding it than you are at hiding it.

Lock it up when you're not home, wear it when you are.

A few years ago, my house was burglarized while my family and I were out of town. They took an old laptop, an air compressor, jewelry, etc. My S&W 9mm was sitting (in a gun rug) loaded on an open shelf in the bedroom; they never touched it. They also went into a drawer where I kept watches and stole a $10 Wal-Mart watch but left a Heuer worth over $500. The criminal mind (or lack thereof) is v_e_r_y interesting.

Re: Hidding gun in house for quick deployment

I'm a firm beliver in the GunVault system.  I have grandkids in and out all the time and the unit keeps my loaded firearms secure but ready for use.  The four button key pad can be used in total darkness and I can have my gun and tac light in my hand in less than 5 seconds.  The unit comes with mounting bolt that remain blind on the inside.  If I ever get robbed again, they may be able to pry the thing off the night stand eventually but they will probably have to take it to a workshop and go at it a while to get to the gun.  I think the whole system works well.  It will be obvious that there is a gun present, but as pointed out in an earlier post burgulers are pretty good at finding your crap.

Re: Hidding gun in house for quick deployment

We were robbed twice in one week.  The first time the guy kicked in the back door and took some small stuff that was lying out in the open (camera, jewelry, etc), police figure he was in and out in less than five minutes.  It turns out that what he was really doing was seeing if we had anything big that was worth taking.  A week later he sent two kids in to rob the place at a more leisurely pace.  They were hindered by the back door being barricaded like Fort Knox and had to kick in a basement window.  The small size of the window prevented them from getting the big stuff out but they got quite a bit.

The guy was eventually caught but no property was recovered.

Remember folks, privacy fences work both ways.  This guy targeted several houses in the area and all had privacy fences around their back yards.
