Re: kel tec p3at vs ruger lcp 380

Just got back from shooting the lcp 380, all I had was 42 rnds of Remington umc fmj but am pleased to say fired all 42 without a hitch. I as the shooter leave much to desire only second handgun and I need a lot of practice from 7 yards 6 inch target was missing a lot sometimes low and sometimes directly to the right. Forbid I would have to ever shoot someone but if so I would have managed to do so. What size targets do most of you use from this range as I am wondering if maybe I am using to small.

Well congratulations on the LCP.  Your shooting will improve as you go and get more use to it.  Now we need a picture of it also.  I don't shoot regular targets like other people do.  I use to be a manager for a grocery retail business and I was alway able to get 8 x 11 signs at the end of the week that was left to use as targets to shoot at.  If you can shoot an  8 x 11 sheet of paper and keep them all on the paper you are in the center of mass on a persons chest.  People don't walk around with a two inch red target on them.  You have to remember that the LCP isn't a target gun it was made for personal carry.  But then I have two inch stickers from the retail business also that I put on my targets to shoot at.  I keep my shooting cost down as much as possible.  Now you have to decide on what ammo would you like to carry and a holster.  It don't stop here for you yet, your just getting started.  People here like to carry different ammo so check the site out on ammo and what works for you the best.  Well enjoy that little LCP and keep them on the paper. Well I'm heading out on vacation so I'll pick back up on this after next week.

I broke down and ordered an LCP. I need another gun like I need another hole in my head.
(so that's where my brains went?)

    Have a nice weekend,

I think you will enjoy it Toni, very nice looking, good finish and recoil very manageable. You being a experienced shooter will probably be able to keep on paper....lol, as for me, practice, practice, practice.

    Indiana Jeff:

    BrokenRomeo:
I too have toyed with buying an LCP...but they have not been available in any LGS where I live...which left gunbroker, and with all the fixes that have been done on that gun, it is difficult to tell what you are getting sight unseen. My brother has the Kel-Tec 380 which I have shot...it was ok, but the barrel seems very thin to me on that gun. I have been very happy, however with the PF9 though...so much so, I just picked up a brand new hard chrome one for $279...those guns shoot great for me, the quality seems better than the other kel-tecs I have seen, and I love having the larger caliber...and it works great for me as a pocket gun in my Uncle Mikes.

I know what you mean about the quality looking better on the HC. I actually started out looking at a navy blue frame with HC slide on a p3at on display and told guy I wanted one he went to back room came out and said they were out and was not sure when they would get more in, but that was a purdy gun. He would have sold that to me but I did not want to buy a display that everybody and thire bro played with.

Bud's has the HC / Navy P32 right now  for $291 otd. and it is a nice looking gun.

    Hi Jeff,
Just because I shoot a lot of bullets doesn't mean I am a bullseye queen!! I really have fun shooting and don't really worry about how accurate I am. LOL.... if the paper is huge and is 7 feet in front of me I'm good.

Re: kel tec p3at vs ruger lcp 380

Put 100 rounds through my Keltec 3AT .380 last night at East Orange Shooting Sports Indoor Range.  My hand is sore today.  I carry this little cannon in a pocket every day, and it takes more practice to shoot well than any gun I own.  BTW - I started lubing my Keltec with FP-10 and my reliability problems disappeared.  Woohhoooo!!.

I handled an LCP a couple of weeks ago and it looks like a quality effort by Ruger....but if it ain't broke, I won't fix it as long as I continue to improve with my Keltec.  Of course, I do have two front pockets...........
