No, Bersa should not cover the defect. It had a limited time warranty, just as many things do. If I bought a new Ford Truck and parked it in my garage for 15 years and only drove it a very small amount, then one I start it and the engine blows, it is not going to be covered under warranty.
Also, Eagle Imports is not the company that imported that model of pistol, so they have no connection to it by warranty or other means.
I'm sorry for your event, and very glad it turned out ok, but I'm afraid there is nothing to do about it. The company that imported it is probably out of business or changed hands since it came into the country.
The new models do not have this problem, and they have a "Lifetime Warranty" if you do have a problem.
