    A washer fell out...

    Hi,
Went to the range last night with my wife to feed my new 9UC a little bit.  Also had the 380 with us.  the problem is with the 380.  After the 1st mag was fired and removed I layed the gun down and reloaded the magazine.  When I picked up the gun to replace the magazine a little washer (I call it a mickey mouse washer in a pool filter.  it goes on the end of a rod to hold stuff in place.) fell out of the gun.  I obviously didn't try to put the mag back into place at that time, I put the gun away and took it home.  Once home, I found that I cannot seat the magazine.

I looked at the parts diagram on the 380 manual.  It looks like part 66; the "Drawbar Retention Ring".
Is this something that should be sent in to be fixed?  Or can I fix it?  (It would have to be an EZ fix as I'm not that handy!)  Would my fixing it void the warranty?
    Thanks!
    Brian
(I can post a picture of the part if needed.)

Hi Brian.  Tech Talk, so Royce is the official answer.  However . . .

I don't see Part 66 on the Chapterhouse page (http://bersachapterhouse.50webs.com/manual3.html), which doesn't necessarily mean anything.  There is an 'e-ring' and a washer that holds the disconnector on (picture is about halfway down this page:  http://bersachapterhouse.50webs.com/manual1c.html).  If that's the problem, it's apparently not all that uncommon, and snapping the e-clip back on is probably pretty easy, if you found that part along with the washer.

There is a way to order a new e-clip, I think, but someone else will have to point the way to where to do that.  Good luck.  (p.s., a picture would probably help our poor feeble minds . . .)

    Hi Roland,
That is in fact the piece, apparently.  I put the picture in the original post above.

My concern, and I edit this as a way to ask CGW; would my attempt at fixing this issue void the warrantee?  I'd hate for that to happen.  From looking at the chapterhouse site and my manual, I'm fairly certain I can get it out back together.  Then my concern is Just WHY did it happen in the first place?"
That might be something CGW would be able to spot.  I've never been inside a gun before, so I wouldn't be able to tell right from wrong.

    Thanks!
    Brian

I replaced the e-clip and put the grip back on.  Easy enough, I think.  Didn't have any loctite, so I'll keep an eye on the screw when I go to the range this weekend.  I'll pick up some loctite in the next couple days.  But at least the gun takes the magazine OK and dry fires OK, too.

    Later,
    Brian
