    Re: Tauras 9.

Anyone familiar with the tauras 917-9mm.  I'd like to get a 9 with a rail and this one looked sweet at Bud's.  $402.00

Have you considered the Taurus PT-92?  I got one a couple of years ago for less than that Bud's quote.  Good Gun!  Has a rail, since that seems to be important to you.  Comes with 2 17 round mags, and Mec-Gar makes mags for it.  20 round Mec-Gar mags are available for it, too -- I've got one, it works great.

My impression of it is -- Good Gun!  100% dead-bang reliable, decent trigger, decently accurate.  My only negatives are that it flings the last empty right back at or over my head, and the 3 dot sights aren't as easy to see as some -- I've been meaning to improve them with a little extra paint.

GB.You are generally pretty thorough when evaluating your guns.Does it seem to be picky with ammo, or is it one that will shoot pretty much what you feed it?

    Re: Tauras 9.

I need to get gainfully employed again before my next gun purchase.Hopefully that will be tomorrow and then i will be able to save for the new firestorm 1911 or the American classic.Whichever is available first since they both seem to be on short supply right now.I am fortunate when purchasing guns as the significant other does not mind,so i guess i am lucky in that respect.See the first time she complained,i made her sleep on the couch and she has been fine ever since.Whisper [:-*].lol.

the problem is I'm two purchases behind on the honesty thing....2 really isn't that bad when you think about it... of course if the 22 suddenly shows then I'm 3 behind..... and the really weird part is I was just looking at Bud's.... just lookin' mind you....at those little pocket 22's... just looking don't cha know and suddenly I'm smitten.  Before I knew it I've got the old credit card out looking up #'s and all .... and so there you go... that's my story.

Quite literally, it has eaten everything I've fed it, 100%.  The only issue I've had with it was with some lightly loaded LRNs that didn't have enough power to completely stroke the action back far enough to engage the end of magazine slide lock.  That's it.

    Re: Tauras 9.

hey i was going to go get a Bersa 9uc at the local store (they only had the blue model and I wanted the stainless slide) but they had the Taurus 917 in stainless sitting next to it....all of a sudden my mind was changed....that taurus is a good looking gun...(the trigger pull is very good also.) I wanted something i could carry and shoot at idpa type events, and the 917 was just a little too big for me to carry, so i ended up getting a Cz Rami after all the reading and looking around.  from what ive read about the 917 is if you have a problem , it will be the mag lips.people have had to polish and file down the lips a little 1/16 of an inch and that has helped. Hope yours works out great ..it probably will. if i get another gun it will prob be the 917 or the pt99 in stainless.

    Re: Tauras 9.

She may have him duct taped to a chair wearing a tinfoil hat while she plays a recorded message that says" Mason and John are bad,and you won`t buy any more guns." Mason, you better put your tin foil hat on and see if Brian is sending out any distress signals.
