I went ot my buddy's home range Sunday, desiring to burp out a box of WWB with my BT380 and its new wood grips. Then, as we were setting up COM and 10yd pistol targets....rain. Pouring rain.
We tried to sit it out for a while in his shed. Then I remembered my glove box model, a Jimenez JA-22, was constructed of a zink alloy or Zamak. I retrieved the backup and we proceded to poke out the circles and vital organs at 21, 35 and even 50 feet. No fear of rust on the major components, and the steel barrel stayed warm enough to dry completely after a wipedown.
This JA-22 (NIB $110) has turned out to be a reliable back-up gem and even a primary under light clothing, though I DO NOT recommend ever carrying with one in the pipe. It is hammerless and the safety is flimsy at best.
But accurate! 3-4" pattern at 21', 4-6" at 35', and 8-10" at 50'. It liked hotter rounds during break-in, but now eats Fed Value Pack like candy. And at the price, it's a good -bang around/glove box/ankle holster/in the pouring rain- firearm. We got our range session in.
