    Nice write up...

Only problem I got is how does he judge the "wound channel" using the beef bits in a bag...  It would think it would be hard to tell.

    Seems all performed well.

    Toni,

Hot, you don't need to tell me. Any time you look at my post the signature the weather flag is updated to the latest temp here in Winter Park. The is true even if you go back two months, what you see is what it's like in real time (give or take ten minutes)

To post an active link go the the sight that you want to link to. Then look at the browser's http:// address in the top window.  Right click on it and it will highlight, a prompt will pop up, click on copy.  Then when you do a post to Bersa Talk just right click at any point you want to enter the link address and click on paste.  It will post as an active link.

Interesting he liked the saber  Said Corbon didn't feel very hot

Then later makes this statement below            Iam also not fond of his test materials  But  interesting anyway.

For me, I go back and forth whether to stack a couple of Corbons in there, it's hard to not like that big hole they make. When a corbon or Buffalo hit, the meat moves and chunks are normally blown about as well.

Meat moves, and chunks blown about as well , along with a big hole. Yet no power. Only Corbon and Buffalo did this  He also complained about recovery time So must be makeing some kinda of power.  As for the bullet not opening at first Well thats the design. Remember DPX means Deep Penteration  It doesn't open as quick but does open and expand uniformally  .

Only problem I have ever had with the Remingtons is the wide spread in FPS on every test Ive read  80 to a 100 FPS difference in 5 shots is to much . ON low side might not get any expansion at all. They could make this  a more even set of numbers.

Its still a pick one that you like best and then stick with it.

I enjoy the "Box of Truth"  and there is a good story line, photos, measurments, and such on penetration, expansion on .380 loads for self defense, and pocket pistols in general.  A lot of good myth busting, a lot of humor.  Just google "Box of Truth"

Is the Golden Saber a steel casing (under the nickel coating)?  I thought I read somewhere that steel casing rounds were hard on the aluminum of the Bersas.

I do not believe they are steel cased.  They fed very well in my T380 but when I shot some into a bucket of water two of them didn't expand at all and punched through the bottom of the bucket and one expanded a little and dented the bottom.  I shot the rest of them out and don't carry them anymore Smile [:)]

Stipulating that I'm a newbie here and probably don't understand half of what I read, I think the tester DID like the Corbon Personal Protection but was UNIMPRESSED with the Corbon DPX.  If that's correct, he could have meant the DPX didn't feel very hot, but that he's considering putting a couple of Corbon PP's in his magazine because they moved his meat (!).

Another reason I'm thinking this is that the Buffalo Bore and Corbon PP looked similar in this photo and he clearly liked the Buffalo Bore rounds:

Re: 380 SD Ammo Tests on another forum.

In order to save some money, I tried  putting some Fiocchi JHP through numerous weapons to 'break them in' to JHP bullets.  Would I stake my life on it?  I don't know, but it was usually the cheapest JHP round in my area.  It was my afordable 'break-in' JHP

I must say that they are a pleasant shooting round, and the few I've dug out of dirt (loose backstop, no rocks) were a lot more twisted around than the pretty, symmetric round recovered here.  I realize dirt isn't meat, but  I still like the Fiocchi JHP.

Re: 380 SD Ammo Tests on another forum.

I like the Hornady XTP bullet that Fiocchi uses.  Designed more for penetration than expansion and a little more horsepower behind it might make it a little more respectable in the expansion department.

The Gold dot seems to expand fairly well with the Buffalo bore rounds.  Clearly a difference between the two gold dots and I really liked how the Buffalo Bore HC ammo shot through the Bersa .380.  It fed and patterned well.

I like the Corbon PP ammo better than both the XTP and BB rounds.  Less kick than the BB ammo and it appears that it gets good expansion and penetration.
