statcat62:does any one have any break in ideas before I do this thing? We are shooting 1000 rounds each to see how long we have any problems the looser buys the coffie. Thanks in advance for any help. Bob
I have an idea--start shooting it.
I have a battered Thunder 9, a gun similar to the Thunder 40. It's never jammed while in my possession. I suspect the Thunder 40 will be very much like that. You probably won't find much of a break in period associated with the gun, but you should have already started that break-in. If there's a problem, it'll show up right away, in the first box of ammo.
I understand the reason for using reloads and cast bullets for a torture test, because 1,000 rounds of factory ammo would cost an arm and a leg. But if you're not an experienced reloader, this could be a serious flaw in your plan. Your lifetime warranty doesn't extend to problems or malfunctions experienced while shooting reloads. All I'm saying here is that the loser could be buying a lot more than just the coffee.
In fact the more I think about it, the more I think that the torture test you have planned is as much an ammo test as it is a firearm test, and because of that, it might not be a fair test at all, since problems that present themselves have as much chance of being ammo-related as gun-related. Just my 2 cents.
Good luck. I hope you do well.
