I belive the Firestorm /American Classic  is a better built and uses better qualituy parts.  I know our warrenty service will be better as we all know who going to do the warrenty work. If isn't done ppropery where will you hear about it.Smile [:)]

    Re: NEW FIRESTORM 1911

    Hey Jake,

It wouldn't be fair at this point to judge them against each other.

    Some notes:

The Firestorm is very accurate. (only 100 rounds put though her)

The Taurus has the "heinie sights" I think I know why the're called that! you really have to get used to them and I'm a stubborn Irishman, say no more!

The one thing that "bothers" me with the FS is the grip saftey seems to move around ever so slightly and its spring is weak. Some people may like that. Nothing that can't be replaced though.

As far as service goes, I just hope to God that I won't need/use Taurus service. For the amount of time it would be in the shop, I would just take it to a local GS. That (free warranty) is not why I purchased the firearm.

The Firestorm is a great buy! For all you folks out there thinking about getting into the 1911 arena.... for less than or right at $400.00  it's a great place to start.

I'm new at this 1911 thing but, I think the're like Lays potato chips..... you can't just have one!

Thanks RT, you too MT even though I didn't ask you for your $.02.  I will stay tuned for what you think when you've put more rounds through both, RT.  I imagine I would have to change out the Heinie Sights on the Taurus also.  There are a few made in Mexico parts on the Taurus, but I have compared the two side by side, and fit and finish seemed fairly comparable, still kind of like the Taurus, and have never had to have a repair done on a Taurus.  Never have owned a firearm made in the Phillipines, so I don't know how well the steel will hold up.  That is the only question as not all steel is created equally.  Your range target looked impressive.  What distance was the target you posted?

    Hey Jake!

Distance was 30 feet any further than that, BG gets a free "you don't die today" gift from me.

Good ten yard target RT.  As to the bad guy getting away, anything over that, I may refer to my uncle Mr. Horn, if they made me mad.

    Re: NEW FIRESTORM 1911

I always heard if you had a gun on the bad guys and they turned to run, that shooting in the air would really make them run.  Might be fun, there aren't too many fat bad guys, now that would be x-tra fun!!!

    Re: NEW FIRESTORM 1911

Don't shoot in to the air. Its a bad idea as bullets do come down . @ you could be charged for discharging a firearm in the city If you live in city. . Just let them go and watch and try to grather as much info for Police as you can.

    Re: NEW FIRESTORM 1911

A kid in Portland was hit in the foot by a falling bullet last week. It lodged right in his foot and had to go to hospital. Cops found the guy that shot into the air several blocks away and charged him with several things including unlawful dischage and recless endangerment. Serious stuff So be  careful....

Amen!  Wish I could find a Firestorm, but the 1911 itch couldn't be held back anymore (always say that when I buy another 1911).  I purchased an Armscor RIA GI 1911 last Saturday.  The Salesman at the store was a jerk, but the price was good enough for me to not worry about his lack of service (since I know RIA is warrantied for life).  Marked at $399.99 but rang up at $379.99!!! (or $404.69 OTD).

Basic GI model... last time I bought a "basic" 1911, was back in 1994 (a Norinco, right before the ban).  Great gun for the price, doesn't have the fit or finish of my Kimbers or Colts, but it cost less than half of what I paid for those gun s Wink [;)]

    Re: NEW FIRESTORM 1911

RIA is a good pistol  Just don't sink a lot of money in one then expect to get in back in trade or selling. Read last week some where Guy was up set, had $800 worth of mods to his RIA  and no body would give him his high asking price .  Well golly gee its not a Wilson Ed Brown Night Hawk  no matter what you do to it still a RIA .  Same will go for the Firestorm or The American Classic  Their shooters and will make a good SD pistol Just keep changes to a min and no more than $200 total. That way you AC or Firestorm Delux  is still just at $600 and if you deside to trade  you won't get beat to bad. Or you can sell it  for a reasonable price. . My self for what the cost I consider them a never sell or trade  pistol.  Thes are ones you will carry when the $1000 or 2000+ pistol is left in safe.
