    Re: Ladys Head count

It's been around 10 or 15 years ago, but once, the Fla legislature rewrote the gunlaws and just happened to forget to reinclude the part specifically forbidding open carry.  Then they went out on summer break.  The media sniffed it out and went public with it.  It was about 30-45 days before the lawmakers could get back to Tallahassee and rewrite the law.  There was "mass hysteria" that everyone down here would be walking around armed like the wild west of old.  The media made a big deal of making it known that businesses could legally keep firearms out by posting "No Firearms" signs on their front doors.  Those signs popped up everywhere.  I don't recall seeing any large numbers of people taking advantage of the open carry situation.  Alas, the legisclowns came back and corrected their "error".

In a semi-related vein, there's not much "The Brady Bunch" does that amuses me, but I do chuckle everytime I see one of their billboards on the interstates down here informing all the touristas that Floridians have the right to use deadly force. Though I'm sure it was far from their intent, I wonder how many BG's see those and think twice about doing something unsavory.

I'm a female and soon to be a CCW holder. Do you have CCW, and if you do what caliber do you carry and where on your body? How often do you carry?

    Re: Ladys Head count

I have a CCW. When I carry in places like work where I am not supposed to have it I carry a Keltec P32. On my weekends I usually carry a Ruger P95DC 9mm. I carry everyday. The  gun doesn't do you any good if it is sitting at home.

This is a multicultural home. I have Argentinian guns, Brazilian guns, Russian guns, Yugoslavian guns...

Here in Kentucky we can open carry even with no permit, including on your dashboard or passenger seat.

This is probably the best reason I've ever heard to move to Kentucky ;)

I live in Texas, so our gun rights are pretty secure here.  But there is no open carry, only concealed.  I'm working on getting my CHL right now.

    Oh, and I'm a girl :)

I had a conversation with our local sheriff regarding concealed  and open carry and he is all for it. It makes his job easier. If you open carry here in my county no one will give you a second glance, but I bet in Louisville or even Lexington in a mall there, you might be noticed. Here,, everyone has a rifle iin their pickup rack and no one even locke their car doors.

    Specs;
Man, I envy you. Where I grew up it was pretty much the same way. We didn't carry open handguns but the shotgun was in the  pick up all the time. No one thought anything about it. Now , in the same town, you wouldn't dare! Sucks!

    Re: Ladys Head count

I have to confess that I don't even think about it. Problem is that when I travel to Illinois it is a big deal. Here in KY no one worries about it at all. The best thing is that I most likely will never have occaision to defend myself with a firearm here at home, but when I travel, well...........

I carry almost all the time - unless I'm going to be on federal property where I can't.  I carry to/from work, locking it in my car during the day, since I can't carry in the building.

When possible, I carry openly.  Sometimes it's not possible because of clothing - women's business clothes aren't really made for sturdy belts and holsters.

If you're interested in carrying openly, where legal, come join the fun at www.opencarry.com talk forums too.

Count me in. I am going on 60. Carry Beretta 9000 wherever/whenever i possibly can because I believe bigger is better. When that's not doable i don either Keltec P32 or Bersa 380CC.

You can count me in as one of the ladies.  I am a new member as of two days ago.  I recently bought my first handgun and am in love.

As to the later question, in PA we have to carry concealed.

I got nailed in Lexington for open carry of a hunting knife. I was may be a 100 yds from house. Got 4 cars and a hassle . Don't even think open carry in Lexington or Louisville They will  stop you even if legal. Will they do anything I don't think so but not worth time and trouble.

Kimi - Welcome and congrats on your first handgun purchase! Back in January, I also fell in love with my first handgun, and then the one I bought in March, then the one I bought in May, etc. Some women buy shoes and purses, it just so happens that I prefer to buy guns!

    Kimi

I don't know where you live in PA, but the only place you can't open carry without a LTCF in the entire state is in Philadelphia (City of the First Class) or in a vehicle. PA has a Uniform Firearms Act, and there is no law in it prohibiting open carry, there are only laws prohibiting concealed carry without a LTCF. In other words, as long as your 18 or older, you don't even need a LTCF to walk down the street open carrying a gun on your hip. Am I close if I say that a LEO or someone in the Sheriff's office told you that open carry was illegal? If you'd like to know more, take a look at http://www.opencarry.org/ for more information.

It's nice to have another lady join the ranks.

Actually it came from the Attorney General's and the PSP's web sites.  (I'll post the links below to the pages.)  I did also from talk to a PSP Officer who explained their perception of the law and how it is enforced.  <shrug>  I am glad to know it isn't illegal.  I still would rather avoid running across the wrong LEO having a bad day.

Thank you for the welcome and help,
