ok I just went to the AO on line manual for that pistol    http://www.tommygun.com/images/hg_manual100401.pdf

 

Their is no colt 80 series fireing pin block in a Auto Ord  Manual doesn't speak of it . and exploded parts don't show it. This is old  1911 style pistol.. I don't know what you broke if anything but wasn't  no fireingpin block  . 

You may have sheared the disconnector it sticks up thru frame little hole slighty off center.  Likely a cheap MIM part .

Nope...Its a series 80 alright. I noticed after it became broke that all the info, manual parts, order sheet all of it must be very outdated. I would rather have a series 70 pistol. I feel that there website misrepresents there product also. When the gunshop owner calls me monday and if I don't hear what I want to hear ...I might pick up the pistol and take care of it myself. I wish I had the pistol so I could show you its a seriers 80 with just one picture.

Update: Hmm... it does say under the picture of the Pistol on there company website that it is a series 80 with a firepin block. read the description. It says "This 1911 is built with a firing pin block in the slide, Series 80 configuration."

Yep does say 80  series. Well  make them fix it . Then later when you know how to do a full  down to bare frame tear down . You can order the part from Brownells and remove it all. for 5 bucks and shipping If you want to get rid of it. I have not ever had a problem with the Colt style .

    The Kimber type yes  one of the reasons Kimber is low on my list  Safety, finish , lack of nickle in SS to help prevent rust . . Kimber looks good ,shoots good , Use them and carry and that fiish will wear fast the safety is iffy (ask mason his broke)  and they will rust (ask me I know)  The 500 round break in shouldn't be needed. My DW is a lot tighter than the Kimber and hasn't needed a 500 round  break in before you call us to say it jams .

The AC II will prove I belive to be a better deal than most of the mid price 1911's out their. Were starting to get a few so  we will see I guess.   Remember their only shipping 400 a month at present One reason hard to find.

Actually I never did get a stright answer as to what went wrong with it. Kinda guessin at it. BUT.. future x is happy now shes got it back. So I'm walkin way around that mine field. Fact is she's in the other room right now trirlin it in and out of her hoster. Callin herself Jane Wayne. I think its more like Bonnie Fife or would that be Barney Wife?

Hmmm....you have me thinking on removing it, I went to Brownells website but i can't seem to find the part that does that, can you link the page that has the part? one reason i took it back to the gunshop is on the small parts order form it says they only ship parts to FFL dealers only, so they would have to get the part from Kahr, I can't. Also I think something might be wrong with the pistol that made it break  in the first place. I just hate the thought of it getting shipped away and not get it back for over a month. So I think that if they want to ship it away, instead of sending the part to the Gun dealer I might try to repair it myself by ordering the part from another source.

I know this is not your priority right now but, I think your slide lock is normal. Close quarters in there.

When your mag. empties out the follower hits the slide lock, which in turn pops up and catches the slide, keeping it open.

What I want to know is how to get pictures in your posts like you did. I follow directions but when it says go to file for pictures, it says folder is empty.

What I want to know is how to get pictures in your posts like you did. I follow directions but when it says go to file for pictures, it says folder is empty.

First thanks for answering that questing on the slide lock..all i can say is Duh! i should have know that.

As for posting pic's, ok here it goes...

First go to a free online Picture hosting site I use

http://photobucket.com/ Make yourself an accout its free.

Make yourself a folder on your hard drive and put the pictures you want to post in there, don't upload from a camera or memory stick...you can do this but it takes along time because your hard drive is faster memory access than a fllash card or camera as the source.

Now you will need to upload you pictures to your libary, On the page of your Photoshop account there will be a button that say's upload , you want to choose the option on the drop down menu it say's "reduce to"...Choose 640x480 is the best size for forum's, hit the choose files button and direct it to look into the folder you have your pictures stored in and choose the pictures you want to upload.

Now you have your pic's uploaded you will see small icons of your pictures with info below them them, the one on the bottom says IMG CODE...Left click it and the word copy flashes accross your cursor. Now all you have to do is right click in your post where you want to copy the picture in your post and choose paste from the menu and it will fill in the address..you won't see the picture until you post your message. Also if you ever delete the picture from your Photobucket library then the post that you made with that picture will dissapear.

 

    After no call this mourning as promised by the Gunshop, I went to check on my 1911. When I arrived they told me that they had talked to Kahr and got a RA# to send my pistol back to be repaired and it was all ready to be shipped back. For one thing the deal was they would call and let me know my options....not just send it off without me knowing what was up.Sending it in means it could be gone as long as a month. I would have been upset if it had allready shipped. I just told the guy to go get it I would be taking it with me.

I called Kahr got someone on the phone in under a minute...almost passed out form that alone. Was a girl that answerd and she was sweet and helpful and said that they would get the needed part out today and they were sending it Fedx. Might even be here tomarrow. I think it should be an easy repair, it only involes backing out the hamer pin alittle , I think I can do it.

Really  Well that pin comes out L side of pistol . Guess what blocks it  The safety  . Now you need to remove safety (Do you Know how to remove and reinstall )  When safety is removed What other part is now effected  Gee lets see grip safety can now fall free  .  Remember their another part below one you replacing

Wrap a rubber band around grip safety will hold in place    Have fun    we will be wait to hear of you experiance  Remember slide off when you do this

I did not mention the other steps because its just a field strip and the safety comes out by hand just wiggling it just alttle..knocking the pin back some, is the only thing that needs a tool or anything. So field stip, remove safety, knock pin back 1/4 of the way and out it came. easy as pie

It would be, If I had the replacement part.

When you had it apart did your hammer fall?

 And when you were putting it together,  when it did not slide on easily did you force it?

 It doesn't seem that it would break for no reason being NIB......yep 5 bucks from Brownells, Wilson, Fusion etc. will fix the problem it is a 80.....the 1911 Forum has a couple of good links with instructions.
