Welcome to Bersa Talk, encato. In a recent thread we talked about putting a T9 barrel in a 9UC, and just out of curiousity, I did it, since I have both guns. You see the result. Seems to work okay, but I've not fired it this way, and I'm not saying you should, but another forum member says he's been doing it for over a year and has seen no ill effects and it seems to work great too, Here's a link to that thread.

and then a couple pages later, this:

    lrb111:
Pt, I've been swapping a full sized barrel into my UC9 for varying reasons, for over a year now. Works great.

You can get a T9 barrel at Eagle Imports. Here's a link: http://www.bersafirearmsusa.com/products/index.php?cPath=23_153_157_159&osCsid=5114ff8f31564cffa8913ee78062ac41

Looks like you can get a barrel for $28. I don't know what the shipping would be. And you might have to wait while they order it from the factory, because I don't know if they're going to have it in stock. I suppose you could call during business hours and ask.

Incidentally, I don't know how this modification would effect the warranty on your 9UC. You might post a question in the Tech Talk section and see what Royce, the warranty gunsmith has to say about it.

Re: any bersa mods / upgrades

Ok tried the full size barrel mod into the UC and it fits but it won't cycle.  The little lip that hooks the barrel to the frame when the slide is all the way back is a little bit longer and at a slightly different angle than the UC 9 barrel.   Otherwise they are identical, well one being longer of course.  Doesn't really matter anyway all I really wanted it for was to bore sight my UC9 which I was unable to do due to the shortness.  Kind of scared of unnecessary wear with higher pressures on the UC with the longer barrel if that’s even true.  Was curious about the accuracy of it as well.   I can imagine someone who just throws this barrel in and starts shooting is going to have a really bad day.  Though it might have been possible before, it isn’t now.  Maybe they redesigned the later UC9 models I don’t know something must have changed somewhere.  Mine had a test date of 5/21/08.  Guess now I have to go get a Thunder 9 to go with my barrel.

I also ordered some thunder 9 magazine bottoms thinking that they would be flat.  WRONG they are the same as the UC9 bottoms.  Well one is anyways, hack saw and a file made it flat.

Re: any bersa mods / upgrades

Well, I'm surprised to hear that your 9UC wouldn't cycle with the T9 barrel since lrb111 said his worked great. I just put my T9 barrel in my 9UC and hand cycled it a couple of dozen times with no problem. I didn't try ammo or firing or anything. And the two barrels look identical in appearance except for the difference in length. But it's an older T9, with a 5-digit serial number starting with "0". I got the 9UC NIB in Jan. '07.

It's too bad you "have to go get a Thunder 9" to go with your barrel. Sad [:(] To tell you the truth, I don't think you'll regret owning one, it's a pretty good gun.

Now, about those T9 mag bottoms. They should be flat. There's no reason for a finger extension on the T9 magazine because the grip on the gun is plenty long enough to accommodate normal sized hands. So apparently they sent you mag bottoms for the 9UC. You didn't say who you got them from, but I suspect you got them from Eagle Imports. Unfortunately, I've had trouble in the past ordering things for the T9 from E.I. and getting stuff for the 9UC instead, as well as the other way around. Angry [:@] Apparently they have some people working there who either can't read or just don't give a rat's patoot about filling orders accurately. So they have a well deserved reputation for being half-a**ed.

Re: any bersa mods / upgrades

My serial is 6 digit starting with 918 *edit because its a UC duh..* They must have redesigned the barrel cam on the UC.  I was being sarcastic about the Thunder 9 hehe I want, no need one now.  I ordered it all from EI, the page I ordered them from was the HC parts page.  Maybe they thought I had a Thunder and would find the UC bottoms cool who knows...  Regardless its not hard to make your own flat bottoms.  Conceals even better now. I'll throw up some pics of the bottoms and the barrels if I can find a camera that can see the detail.

Re: any bersa mods / upgrades

I swapped mag bottoms once to see if I liked the way it looked and felt in my hand. I didn't like it. For me it made my 9UC hard to hold comfortably. I posted pictures in the photo section. Here they are. Click photos to enlarge.

The last picture is my wife holding the gun. The flat based mag didn't seem to bother her so much.

Re: any bersa mods / upgrades

Ok here are some pictures showing the difference between the UC9 and the full size barrels.  In the over lays its kind of hard to see but its the black edge you see under the UC9.  My camera kind of sucks so fell free to edit them to point out more or make it easier to see.

Also my home made flat bottom.
