New to conceal and carry and I need some help.

I'm  new to the world of conceal and carry.  I'm interested in the Bersa 9mm over the Thunder 380.  I  have  2 questions.

    1)  How  concealable  is  the  9mm?

    2)  How are  others  concealing them?  Does anyone use the SmartHolster?  I've also  seen a  holster that  is similar  to a  shoulder holster but  it is worn under  your shirt.

    Any  advice?

I use a UBG Striker, which is comfortable and concealeable. In the summer, I just wear the shirt outside the pants and down over the gun.

Nate Gable is the holster maker, and he's a member of BT. Here's a link to his site: www.ubgholsters.com

Hi swflbersa and welcome to Bersa Talk. Smile [:)]

+1 on the UBG holster. I carry my Bersa 45uc (about the same size as the BT9UC) in a UBG Striker. Conceals great and very comfy. Check it out at the above mentioned link. Good Luck..

When you need a gun you need a gun You don't have time to dig under your shirt up to your arm pit  Or dig aroung your crouch or. ankle.  May be a 2 or 3 pistol at those locations But you main pistol should be around your waist . Were it can be reached quickley .  A small pistol in pocket is fine but even their, are drawbacks. Can't get to when sitting biggest problem

Thanks guys, I've got UBG bookmarked and I'll be going over that website in detail later in the day.

I've done a lot of reading on the Bersas and like what I've found out.  I haven't been to the range with either yet, but I've checked them out at a few local shops and both fit my hands well and seem to be well balanced.  The price can't be beat in these economic times either.

Rays holsters has some nice products also and their prices are very reasonable. They are a local business that are in Florida and their very fast with delivery if you do not feel like waiting a while for your holster.Good luck with whatever you decide.

Re: New to conceal and carry and I need some help.

    Hi swflbersa  and welcome,
I too am new to this forum and CC.
A couple of month ago I had the same question  that you had.
I have to thank all the members here for all the great advice.

Here are the reason I choose the 9MM.
1 Size:  Try going to a gun shop and  Lay the 380 on top of the 9 MM.
I didn't find that much difference in the size and if you look up the weight
I believe was was about 3oz more.  The only difference I could tell was the 380 was slimmer
    2.  Ammo cost:  I found the ammo for the 9mm  a lot cheaper, than
for the 380.  You are going to want to practice a lot.  I buy my practice ammo at wallmart.
    3.  More fire power for the buck  ,also if you get the 9mm find one that comes with 2 Magazines

    • As for the holster I would take the advice from p-t-max
and go with an in the waist band  (IWB)  holster.  I Purchased a Paddle holster .  Although it serves the purpose for the time being ,it doesn't  conceal  as well as the UBG  IWB.  I will be purchasing a UBG Striker in the near future.

    • If you can find some one who has one or both guns to let you shoot that may  be a deciding factor to you also.
    •  If you already have your permit try checking out Gun shows in your area.  I saved $60 at the gun show.
Good Luck  in your search and don't get in a Hurry if you can help it. .

Thanks again for the input.  I keep bouncing back and forth on the type of gun.  Looks like I'll be doing some serious thinking for a while.
