Just purchased a new Bersa Thunder UltraCompact 9mm.  Shot about 150 rounds through it at the range.  No malfunctions, easy to shoot.  At first the slide was a bit stiff but it has loosened up.  Magazine is much easier to load now.

First shot trigger pull is pretty heavy and makes it hard to get off a good first shot.  That could be just me.  Not to complain, I like a stiff first shot trigger pull.  Sure beats going off when I don't want it to.

The pistol shoots more accurately than I do.  While I was shooting I let about 5 other people try it and everyone said it shot well.

I've shot a few pistols (Glocks, Sigs, desert eagle, S&W, Taurus) and I feel like the Bersa shoots for me at least as good as the best of them.

My only complaint is that I'm still on the fence about the quality of the finish on the Bersa compared to that on a Glock or Sig.  Either way its no big deal.  This pistol is all about function for me and it is very functional.

So far I've only tried white box.  Not sure how other ammo shoots.

My intention is to use this pistol in the IDPA.  I shot IDPA once with a Sig 229.  Being left handed, I prefer the Bersa over the Sig.  Also, the sig was a loaner from a friend.

I wasn't sure if I wanted the .40 or the 9mm.  I ended up getting the 9mm because its cheaper to shoot and I couldn't find and .40 versions for sale.  I also considered a kel-tec but I like the safety features of the Bersa.  The Bersa has the best safety of any pistol that I've ever shot.  I considered a px4 storm but after checking it out in the store I found out that the safety/decocker was impossible for me to use.

Thanks for posting here.  The posts on here contributed to my buying decision. 

I am considering the Beretta PX4 Storm Ultra Compact in a 9MM or 40 for my as well.  After shooting my wifes Bersa Thunder 380, I may reconsider and go with the Bersa Thunder 9.  Thanks for the comments.

Glad to hear you got the 9,  I finally got some good range time in last Sunday on my new UC9.  Three new mags and three different shooters and not a single failure!  I'll know more after the 500th round, but so far so good.  I'm sure I'll be with Bersa for a while.

The px4 looked good to me on paper but when I checked one out at the store the ergonomics didn't seem right for me.  In particular the safety/decocker was too far up on the pistol for me to reach and it was a little triangle thing that cut into my hand.  Maybe it would loosen up after putting a few rounds through it and maybe it wouldn't be a problem for someone with a bigger hand.

I like using the safety.  I realize that I'm in the minority so it could be a non-issue to many people. 

On the other hand I love the ergonomics on the cx4 carbine.

One thing I like about my BT9UC is the placement and functionality of the safety. I mean it works. No stiffness or stubborn balkiness like the 380. Consequently, I use it. I carry with the safety off, but when the gun comes out of the holster for any purpose other than to shoot it, I put the safety on, and when I reholster, I leave it on until it's securely back in the holster.

Of course, to clear the gun or rack the slide, the safety must be off, and when you pull the slide back you're also cocking the hammer, so the 4 safety rules need to be applied at all times. That probably goes without saying, but I think it bears repeating.

My three Bersa Thunder 9s have about 7k between the three of them with no malfunctions (Fullsize has 5k by itself).

The trigger on your T9 will smooth out very nicely with some more rounds through it. My Fullsize has the best trigger of all my DA/SA pistols.

I purchased my first Bersa in the thunder 9mm yesterday.  I am glad to hear about the good quality you guys are reporting.  I am heading to the range to burn a box today so we will see.  I know taht I live the way it feels.

+1 on the placement of the safety.  Based on my grip style, it's almost impossible to grip and fire the gun with the safety on.  Consequently, I have no problem carrying it with the safety on (round chambered / hammer down).

Just a little follow-up.  So far >600 rounds down range 3x IDPA and no jams or malfunctons.  Also, I've started every stage in IDPA with the safety on and I don't feel like its slowed me down at all.  The safety on the Bersa is the most ergonomic design that I've seen on any pistol.

Only problem that I've had is that I picked up a firestorm branded 13 round magazine and you have to mess with it to get it to load over 4 rounds (the spring follower or whatever it's called gets stuck).  Fortunately the magazine never has had a problem while shooting, only loading.

So far I've shot one 50 round box of wolf 9mm that I bought at the range and a bunch of boxes of winchester white box.

 

 

 

 

about 65 rounds so far, no problems.  Shoots better than I do.  Seems to shoot a little to the left for me.  I don't think that the rear sight can be drifted.

No, not really. A non marring tool and some careful tapping, not hammering, is required.
If you do remove it, please be aware that there is a boing factor under there.
