My first attempt at a belt

I ordered a double thickness gun belt from Gunner's Alley and while the product was of very good quality I found it to be too uncomfortable.  Being fat it would dig into me when I bent over or sat down.  They were very good about accepting the return and would recommend them and the product to other people.

I figured what I needed was a tapered gun belt but when I started looking around I found the prices to be high enough to inspire me to make my own.

Not counting the tools I had to purchase (I never count those) I've got about $40 in materials wrapped up in this thing and a lot of experimenting and frustration.  All in all, if I wasn't the kind of person who enjoyed doing stuff like this I probably would be further ahead just ordering one from somebody.

Below are some pics of the two ends.  No picks of the middle since it's just a straight chunk of leather.  I know I've got a lot of holes in the tab end but that's on purpose Big Smile [:D]

    Thanks AG.

Maybe a little wishful thinkin' on my part but I've been watchin' what I eat and I'm down about 10lbs so far.

I haven't actually worn it yet since the top coat wasn't completely dry at the time I took the pics.

Looks good. How much $$ do you have in it? Not the cost of tools.

Where did you get the leather?

Re: My first attempt at a belt

Maybe a little over $30 in leather and buckle.  I already had the dye, and acrylic top coat at the house but I think they were about $5 a bottle but I was able to use them on a few projects.

I got the leather, tools, and supplies at a local Tandy Leather store.

I gave the belt away the other day.  I inadvertantly made it a little too big so I gave it to a bigger friend of mine... he really likes it Smile [:)]  I learned some stuff while making the first one so that hopefully when I get around to making another one it'll be even better.
