    Illinois Carry Laws

In Illinois you cant carry a loaded gun but you can carry you're pistol unloaded inclosed in a fanny pack around waist and the loaded mag in the fanny pack or pocket.Anyone do this? I know handguns are band in the City of Chicago but I live out in the western suberbs still crime is everywhere gangs are moving in around my area and the drugs are showing up too still a good place to live. I Hate to carry an unload gun and let aloan wear a fanny pack but if it saves me a court case i will do what I have to do and who wants to give those gun grabers a reason to come and grab.

anyone from ILL carry ? any good gunny sacks aka fanny pack?

The law says "unloaded and inclosed in a case " Ill try to copy & paste the page but Im better with my guns than the computer

I think your walking a fine line their Better sit down with a lawyer . Also even if you can Do you really think you will have time to dig pistol out of a fanny pack. Then find mag , load , rack slide and present arms.

What BG suppose to be doing  Order a Pizza while he waits on you to get ready.   If you do all this then false alarm you might be in trouble for branshing a firearm.

.  So Lets put to the test   Put every thing in a fanny pack  . Since hard to sim fear  Want you to do a fast 150yd sprint  That should wind you and give you a idea of what will be like under pressure try to ready to fire. Have  some one stopwatch you. See how quick and easy it was.

    Re: Illinois Carry Laws

IANAL but based on my research before I had to go to Illanoys this winter from the IHP web site and Il AGs website, you would most likely get a set of bracelets for that meathod unless you also LOCKED the fanny pack.  Now I was mostly looking at leagle carry in a vehicle but it had to be locked up, unloaded and was supposed to be out of reach besides.  There had to be at least 3 steps away from function as in unlock, load mag, rack slide.  Basicly from all my understanding of Il law as it relates to CCW their policy is down on the ground and spread eagle to await the cuffs.  I know they consider haveing a FOID card as probable cause to authorize (even if they dont choose to) a search of a vehicle stopped for any reason.

Hop west of the Mississippi, the freedom is great!!!  No FOID, shall issue CCW law, castle doctrine, ability (WITH meeting federal regulations) to obtain NFA items like SBRs, SBSs, full autos and silencers.

"The law says "unloaded and inclosed in a case " "

I recently went on a fishing trip to Minnesota and I live in Kentucky. I had to travel through both Illinois and Wisconsin which are both restrictive states. When traveling through those states I unloaded my Smith & Wesson .38 special, locked it in its case and stored/locked the ammo in my luggage. I was advised by a cop friend to do that while traveling through those states. I would not want to test their law. I like the idea of keeping my permit.

    Re: Illinois Carry Laws

As I recall, there have already been a few cases involving this law.  And if I recall correctly, at least two went in favor of the defendant.  Frankly, I would not want to risk my carry permit, by maybe getting convicted in Illinois.  Better to elect more pro-gun legislators to the state legislature, and change the law to shall issue.  It can be done.
