    Thunder 9 rear sight

    Hi,

What is the best way to move the rear sight to one side?  Is there a special tool for that purpose?

I use a rubber mallet. Works pretty good, just don't get too rambunctious.

I'm assuming yours is like mine and has the "drift adjustable" rear sight.

    Thanks,

Yes, I have the same sight.  I can only go left or right.

I guess you don't hit the sight with the rubber mallet.  Do you use a special punch so that the sight is not marked?

I am not a good handyman....

put a soft cloth over the sight, and then whack it with the mallet.. gently but firmly.

    Re: Thunder 9 rear sight

I have a used Thunder 9 with a missing rear sight blade.

     Click photos to enlarge.

I thought I might replace the sight, so I ordered one from Eagle Imports for $5.

This is what I got. It's the exact same sight that's on my 9UC and 45UC. It's polymer or plastic, not steel. If you try to adjust your "drift adjustable" rear sight with a brass drift pin, you could scratch, mar, or damage your rear sight. I use a rubber mallet. The cloth might be a good idea. Just don't get too carried away with the mallet.

    Hi,

I have the same rear blade.  Moving it from left to right with a mallet was easier than I thought!

I will now try the gun at the range.
