Hi all.

I have been thinking of the purchase of a 9mm for cc and have been mind boggled from all the choices. I am thinking of either the kel tec pf9 or the fire storm mini 9. would value the opinions  and or suggestions of you bersa members on which would be the better for cc other than the fact that the kel tec is smaller. Better shooting, grip, better trigger pull, things of this nature.

Well, lets see; A UC9 that will shoot almost anyround right out of the box, feels good in your hand, lot better triger, and completely reliable VS a semi finished, might work if your work on it, too thin for most hands, so so reviews, etc.

Yep, it would be a hard decision to make

Try to get a rental or see if you can find someone that will let you try one or the other.  I have not fired the Firestorm, but I bought my KT PF-9 pretty much shght unseen (50 years + shooting experiance made me feel fairly confident in selecting it) and it is not a beginers gun.  It is great for concealment and dead reliable, but practise is required to be any good with it and the thing is a handfull.  I will only shoot about 100 round per range session and it takes three or four day for my shooting hand to recover.

Kel tec wins in size and weight.  Firestorm beats every where else  KT is a small up close self defense pistol. Will be no fun at range    Bersa can be concealed and also enjoyed at range. You have a DA/SA trigger on Firsestorm  and carries more ammo.  KT same trigger design as 380  long and around 8lbs    

It really depends on you needs and what you want.

 If you want reliability (almost guaranteed) get a Bersa UC9 (Firestorm mini 9). It's on the fat side tho and matte finish could be better. If you don't mind the prospect of a trip or 2 back to Kel-Tec get a PF-9. They are skinnier and lighter than the bersa. If you want reliability just like bersa but want a keltec get a P11. mine's a sweet little shooter and eats everything.
also, recoil on the bersa is nothing but the keltecs do kick more. something to think about.

My KT has never been back to the company.  I did some of the F&B to help it break in, and added the Houge slip-on grips with the palm swell after the first range session.  That helped the handling a bit.  Right out of the box, the thing has never produced any kind of failure or jam with any ammo that I have used.  Just lucky???

I know a fellow here on the forum who has both guns, name of gb_in_tx. I notice he hasn't chimed in yet, but I know that he has owned the 9UC for several years and now he's moved on to the pf9, and he seems to like it better because of the slimmer single stack design, IIRC.

As for me, I like the 100% reliability of my 9UC and the 13+1 round capacity. I'll stick with it for my every day carry needs till it no longer does the job for me.

Thanks to all for your replies. Now I will take in consideration each of the replies along with things like how I will dress, Iwb,owb. pocket, etc.. I have alittle time yet to decide as I am still saving but getting closer.

Jeff,  I have a SKYY cpx-1 9mm that is almost a Kel Tec and it is a nice little gun. Unfortunately in my case it is more than my old hands could handle. It is definitely a handful. But I watched a young fellow take my gun and shoot 2 in. groups. Small light weight weapon. Myself, I would go for the Firestorm. JMHO

I don't own a Mini 9 so I can't say anything about them.

I DO own a Kel-Tek PF9 and a Bersa Thunder 380.

The PF9 is my carry piece and it works GREAT for *ME*. It is about the same size as the 380 but has a LOT more recoil to it. The PF9 is also lighter then the 380. Other then that, they are almost the same size. Being lighter & more powerfully then the 380 is a plus for *ME* but is the EXACT reason I bought the 380. You see, my wife really liked the size & feel of my PF9 when I bought it. However when she shot it the one & only time, the recoil turned her right off. She now has a 380 that she likes & will shoot. 

If you can hang onto it the PF9 is a great carry piece. If you might tend to limp wrist a pistol, maybe you should stay with the Firestorm.

BOTH are fine weapons that will do the job.

P.S. I have never had any problems with my KT & it has never been back to the factory.

Both are fine weapons.

My PF9 weighs 17 oz loaded & ready to fight, the 380 is 21 oz.

The PF9 is thinner and much smoother. (No exposed hammer, safetys, releases...)

Yes, I think it is easier to conceal.

I haven't shot the 380 enough to comment on how accurate it is but I would suspect it is more accurate then I am. The PF9 took some practice for ME to be able to shoot it accurately.

My wife didn't even hit the target the one time she fired my PF9 and that is the reason I bought her the 380. She liked the size & feel but HATED the recoil & will not fire it again unless her life depends on it & nothing else is available. She can fire the 380, hit the target, & she enjoys it. There really is a BIG difference in the amount of recoil between the two guns. I have no problem with my .357 Mag. or my brother in laws .44 Mag. While the PF9 was a surprise, I can handle it. I DO NOT fire 100 rounds at a time with it.

Yes I am happy with BOTH the PF9 & the BT 380.

Hi, I dont have a BT9 but I do have a BT45 & a .380cc. I had a KT PF9 but just didnt like it. I had it while I had my P3AT and BT45. Thinking I had a good start on a mixed cal carry collection. My PF9 was non stop problems. In several hundred rounds I NEVER had even one mag shoot with out problems but the real problem was I just didnt like it. When I got my BT380cc I loved that gun alot. Also realizing I just like that .380 cal, so I fixed my problem and sold the PF9. Did I mention that I just didnt like it? Now in all fairness I really like my KT-P3AT. Fact is I love that naughty little minx! So, if I were looking for a 9mm between KT and BT I would take the Bersa all day long. But then it could be said I'm a little differnt too. Heck I must be one of the last guys on earth that actually likes a Beretta 92 9mm
