Took the class on Dec 1st.  Handed in the paperwork on Dec 4th (first available day to get fingerprinted.)  Gun Board met on Friday the 14th.   Permit was ready on Monday the 17th.  In my pocket on Tuesday the 18th.  Very quick for us in Lenawee County.

If it jams, force it. If it breaks, it needed replacing anyway.

Sounds like Texas could use some lessons from your state Michael. Texas has up to 60 days to issue. I'm on day 32! Oh well,at least I'm half way there.

In my County you have to be interviewed twice by a representative of the sheriff's department, and see one or two shrinks...you also must show good cause for issuance-for instance, carry large sums of money or there are current threats on your life or attempts made.  A real PITA.  Prosecutors, criminal defense lawyers, judges, celebrities, jewelers, money-men, etc. are likely to be approved.  I think that about 1500 out of 7 or 8 MILLION population have permits to carry concealed in my County.

Oregon here. It differs from county to county. My Sheriff is pro carry but unfortunately there is only ONE clerk to process your carry permit application for the whole county. After the mandatory carry class it took over 6 weeks for the appointment date to see the clerk for fingerprinting and the application process.. Once that was done its always 3-4 weeks to receive your CCW. Most other counties have more clerks and the appointment process can be as short as a few days.

Minnesota is 30 days, although it could be quicker.  Classes run from $75-$250 and then the Sheriff is supposed to charge actual costs up to $100, so naturally, they charge $100.  Good for 5 years and the best part is that it is a permit to carry.  Open or concealed makes no difference.

Re: How long to get a CCW in your state?

NY. Technically a "may issue" state. Took 3 months and about 100.00, most of which covers the binder of paperwork that the sheriff's office and then a judge must review. No expiration date on permit, no training or other certification of any kind required. I got mine about a decade ago. Since then demand for permits has skyrocketed, but no increase in the number of folks processing them. In theory you should have your permit in 6 months or less, but if there's anything on your record (even juvie stuff), it could take a year or longer. From what I've heard off the record, preference is given to women and city residents first, with male suburbanites lower on the list.
