Took my brand new Thunder 380 out for the first time. things didn't go as well as I hoped. The first round felt great, not too much recoil, felt good in my hand, hit the target! Second shot I noticed something wrong. There were no white dots to line up, except at the end of the slide. Closer inspection showed the rear sight blade was gone. Luckily I didn't move much, and after I unloaded the pistol I got down and looked around in the grass and found the rear sight. Dang, those things are small. Took me a while. So away went the T-380, and I had brought my T-9 so that got some work. Glad I brought another along. Since I had nothing that I could use to push the rear sight spring back to get the blade back in I was off to my LGS where I got it and they fixed fixed me up after much cursing and carrying on by the guys. That's a small space to work with. So hopefully my next report will be about more than 2 rounds!  

Yea I know what you mean about things not going well. The first time I shot my 380CC at the range I had several jams that I think were due to the range ammo that I was shooting. Then along with that frustration the disconnector spring came out of it's groove which makes the trigger inoperative. Took off the right side grip cover while at the range and reinstalled the spring. Then I started to use Remington ammo from Wal-Mart and the jams have gone away. The spring still comes out of its groove though. Good Luck!

This works good for me:  1 drop blue loctite. and forget about it

Not on the spring,,,,If it comes out all the time send it in and we will fix it. Please put it in your note that the spring is coming out of place while firing the pistol and we will do our update to it.

Thanks for the tip Bill but I just can't see putting Blue Loctite on the spring. It looks to me like the disconnector spring is somewhat moble in the disconnector groove as the pistol is fired. I could see useing your suggestion if the spring was in a fixed state but I don't think it is. Thanks anyways.   

NOT ON THE SPRING, ON THE SIGHT SCREW AND GRIP SCREWS!!!!!

My apologies Bill. I thought your previous post was directed at me. By the looks of all those capitol letters and exclamation marks I hope I didn't light the fuse to your loose cannon. Touchy-touchy 

I haven't had a sight or a spring problem... downrange it goes, every time so far.  Only had 100 or so rounds through it though and wondered if there is anything I should be looking for in the spring area for a clue?  It seems to be a commonly talked about issue.

I was just at the range Wednesday and my BT 380 was flawless. However, because I've read so much about the disconnector spring I thought I'd take a look while cleaning it.

When I removed the grips I was surprised to find the spring had come out of the groove and was resting on the crowned part of the disconnector. I suspect the grip was sort of holding it there (I have the rubber grips). It makes me very nervous to know that the spring could come out and the gun would still work (at least for a while).  

My BT 380 was purchased in 2007 but manufactured in October 2005. I'm curious if there has been a production change since mine was made so I ordered a replacement disconnector from Eagle Imports. I'll let you guys know if it's any different. Of course, I might get a 3-year old part too but for $9.00 it's worth a try.

Did you order just the Disconnector, or the Spring? The Disconnectors very often have to be fitted to make them work correctly. Let me know what you find.

Hi Royce,

I ordered just the disconnector. The spring had a minimum order quantity so I couldn't just order one or two. But I'm really just curious if the disconnector has been redesigned to improve spring retention since my BT 380 was made in 2005. Maybe you already know the answer?

I'll let you know what I find out but either way I'll need to send it to you for repair. This is my wife's SD piece so I really need it to be dependable.

Just got my ccw.altough I have many guns,wanted something small and light,bought a new .380 cc.went to range,shot 50 rounds fucci fmj.I had 1.jam.I went back the next day ,fired 150 rounds,3 diferent mags,EACH TIME<THE SECOND TO LAST ROUND IN EACH MAG JAMMED.I love the gun ,great trigger,great accuracy,but for a carry gun I need 100% reliability.I am concerned .I never shot a gun better,so I dont want to give up on it,but I need to know that it will go bang when I need it.Any suggestions?
