He kept his maintenance up.Wink [;)]  Being a lite oil, it may not bond with dust and sand like CLP does, so maybe there's less wear on the mechanism?

I've use hoppes in the bore and AT spray cleaner on the actions and then lubed with Hoppes gun oil.  Used Remington dry lube on the .45 and it worked fairly well.

Re: lot of cleaners to choose from

Has anyone used synthetic motor oil to prevent rust from sweat while carrying?

I have tried several outers products, car wax, and liquid wrench dry lube.  I have some 10W-30 synthetic staring at me in the garage.  My little CC is desperate...

Guys on other forums have claimed that Mobil 1 is better than any gun oil. YMMV!

Broke down and ordered the 4oz aerosol Break free.  Can this stuff be used on the exterior of the slide and frame?  Is the matte black finish and the wifes is the duo tone.

It can be used inside outside all around.I even use the BF Powder Blast to clean out the firing pin channel,it will clean out the grease oil and gunk, just put a SMALL drop of oil in the pin channel after blasting it clean.
Breakfree products are all gun finishes safe

Well I used it to lube the blinkers on my Jeep, boy does that switch work easily now. Not to mention I get that clean gun smell everytime I get in my Jeep. Not that will give you a stiffy.

1 word, Eezox. It's a synthetic CLP that I have been using for 6 months now. Best stuff on the market. Not many folks know about it, but they will. When dry it leaves a coating of dry lube that was rated the best protectant of all tested. The Israeli military uses it,  a lot of units in iwacked use it. Since it's a dry lube no sand and dust stick to wear out parts. It is good to go from 200 degrees to 120 below. It leaves a beautiful finish on any surface, even my stainless. Google it, you will be amazed.

Go to an auto parts store and get some White Lithium Grease to use on your rails. It is the same as the high dollar stuff from gun stores. A $2 tube will last a long time.

I have been using a product called Slide Glide. So far it has done all that it said it would do. Very stingy and really hangs all over the slides and dosen't get pushed off the ends. Check it out.

After asking Royce about oil vs grease and my own experiences with both, I'm sticking with the more fluid lubricants.  The thicker greases attract dirt like mad and turn into thick sludge in my guns.

Here is some info in which you might be interested.  I'm not recommending you follow it, nor am I criticizing it... just throwing it out there for informational purposes and/or amusement.

I will throw in my 2 cents....

Liquid Wrench Dry lube outside and in the fine mechanisms (trigger, firing pin etc..).  And I use 10W-30 synthetic on the slide rails with a drop of rem oil here and there.  I have also used 10W-30syn on the outside of my matte 380cc to help prevent rust.Yes [Y]

Re: lot of cleaners to choose from

Might try to grease and shoot, clean up after shooting leave a film of CLP and re-grease before shooting again.
If you are talking about you SD weapon the CLP  will be enough if you have to shoot it,other wise just clean, grease, shoot, clean, CLP and carry until next range trip.
