    R.Ph. 380:

Now if you just want to get a Bersa so you can be a part of "BersaTalk...

Notice the tag line under "Bersa Talk" on the Forums page:

"Talk about Bersa and Firestorm firearms. General discussion, anything goes."

Clearly, Bersa Talk members who are Firestorm owners are full fledged members of the club.

Keep the Firestorm 380. It's kind of a rarity. Some people see them as "odd ducks" and you might not get what it's worth, anyway.

If I was in the market for a .40 S&W handgun, I wouldn't hesitate to get a Firestorm Mini 40. And I already own a Firestorm 22lr pistol that's a great little shooter.

Re: Should I keep my Firestorm or get a Bersa?

Guys, I took the plunge. I bought a Bersa for $225 + 3 factory magazines for $27 each. Not the barn burner price, but very satisfied with the purchase.

Yes, I still have the Firestorm, no, no pics yet, sorry. Is however a garden-variety, normal looking Bersa. I guess I decided if I was going to be in the Chevy truck community, I couldn't drive a GMC anymore, if you know what I mean.

The Bersa is definitely rougher than the Firestorm, possibly because it is brand new. Trigger pull not as smooth, racking of the slide, etc. PS wrap around grip of the Firestorm is better too. Shot a quick 10 rounds for test, S&B FMJ ammo. No functioning problems and the piece is fairly accurate, most of all is a Bersa. That was important to me (don't ask me why).

So welcome me to the Bersa community, I know it's lame, Firestorm will be going up for sale fairly soon. You all will be the first to have a crack at it.

Re: Should I keep my Firestorm or get a Bersa?

OK, thread is useless without pictures, unpacked both of them and arranged them for a photo shoot.

The only differences I see are:

    1. rear sight dovetail (as was already mentioned) and the circular indent on the Bersa slide

    2. Firestorm wrap around finger groove grips

    3. Darker anodized frame of the Firestorm

    4. Curious detail, but the trigger stop on the FS is shorter and flatter. Don't know if that was an improvement or change to the Bersa line in general

and finally, as was also previously mentioned...

    5. ...combat trigger guard on the Bersa

One seemingly obvious difference that wasn't worth mentioning is the slide markings on the Firestorm are different.

Does anyone know what brand the magazines are with the Firestorm? Are they the dreaded Triple-K? They work just fine, was curious thought I would ask.

    Thanks,

    Chipsndukes

Re: Should I keep my Firestorm or get a Bersa?

The mags that come with the Firestorm will have the Firestorm brand name and they're made by Bersa, too. Firestorm mags are interchangeable with Bersa mags and are of the same high quality, made in the same factory.

Re: Should I keep my Firestorm or get a Bersa?

I looked closely at the mags, they don't appear to be of the same manufacture. The bump for the magazine safety is slightly smaller, the cut outs are slightly different, and instead of having a lower spring retainer plate out of steel, they're plastic.

But they appear to be high quality, the follower is blued steel and they work perfectly. I'll try and cross-reference them on GB to see who makes them with pics.

EDIT checked on GB, it appears these are "Promag" magazines, which explains the apparently high quality and perfect functioning. I didn't get these with the pistol as in, "I bought the pistol new", I bought the FS used and these mags came with it from the prev. owner. Thx

Re: Should I keep my Firestorm or get a Bersa?

Hello and welcome Chipsndukes.....Smile [:)]. It sounds to me that you got a good deal...I have two BT380's, one due-tone, like yours and the other is matte, like your Firestorm. It came with the wrap around rubber grips when it was new....If you want to order another set for the Bersa, they sell them at http://www.condorsflight.com and they also had some limited wooden grips earlier this month...I don't know if they still have those or not.....I don't think your Bersa, or anyone here would hold it against you if you kept the Firestorm...there are others here that have them also....Welcome again and I hope you enjoy your stay......

Lol, glad yours work. More often than not they are less than worthless, but sometimes you get lucky.
    Keep the Firestorm too.Smile [:)]
