    Crossbreed Supertuck

I just ordered a Crossbreed Supertuck for my new PT145 Mil Pro SS.  Does anyone else here own one?  Likes or dis-likes?   I know..I know - should have bought a UBG, but I really wanted a tuckable for church.  Wink [;)]    The 380CC is just a little too big for my dress pants pocket when sitting.  If I like the crossbreed I may order another for the CC.

Jes, we're going to need a "field" report on how this holster works for you.

Jes, I'm real interested in getting one of the mini 45s from Taurus and meant to ask you about your new little .45.  How does it shoot?  Does the double spring help to hold the recoil down some?  Comfortable to shoot and carry?

So far I am extremely happy.  This last time out with the WWB ammo it was shooting low.  I felt like I was shooting the eyes out with the Blazer first time around.  The Heine sights will take some getting used to.  My buddy brought his G26 and we compared.... the only difference is the grip of the G26 is about 1/2 inch shorter than the PT145 (and cost an extra $200).  It holds 10 9mm, and mine holds 10 45s.  I have been carrying it in a cheap bianchi IWB made for my Ruger P95 and it is fairly comfy.  Overall shape seems similar to the XD sub compacts.

I read all the reviews I could find and there are some bad ones and good ones.  Apparently Taurus inplemented all the fixes in this last gen of the PT145 because it apparently uses a lot of the parts from the new 24/7 line.  Mags are supposed to interchange (12 rounders).  There was a used blue model for $299 at the shop.  My new stainless was $369.

Fit and finish is good.  Feed ramp is a mirror.  The double recoil springs ride on a plastic guide rod Sad [:(]  Trigger is good.  In actuallity the thing is always in single action unless a round fails to fire, then you can hit it again with double action.  There is a lot of light takeup, but the trigger has a super short reset.

Takedown is odd, you have to pry out the takedown pin, rack the slide back, hold the trigger down and then take the slide off.

This is my first 45 and I was expecting some recoil..... none to speak of, it is not as bad as my 380CC with wolf ammo.  I was actually disappointed Surprise [:O]

Thanks for the reply Jes.  I'm a big fan of the .45.

I also have been looking at one of those for my carry.  I cannot find anything bad about the crossbreed so I think I will order one.  Not much help for you since you already ordered, let us know.  Navet

perhaps it's a nice review but is sure is a crappily done article.  maybe it's the writer and photog in me, but the main jist of this holster that is supposed to offset it's slap assed butt ugliness is it's tuckability.

he has a slew of pics but not one single one that clearly illustrates This One Main Function.

a pic is worth a 1000 words only if you take the right one.

LOL. Well, another feature that offsets it's "slap assed butt ugliness" is the fact that it's a concealed carry holster and shouldn't be seen by anyone else but you anyway.

But you're right, he didn't do a very good job of illustrating the tuckability feature.

Truth is, it doesn't look any more tuckable than a UBG Striker.

    But that's just me.

Maybe we can get one of our members who has the holster to tuck it, take pictures and post them so we can see. Hello, anybody?

    Re: Crossbreed Supertuck

I responded to this in another forum but I'll post it again here.  I DO have a Supertuck Deluxe.  And I must say it is unbelievably comfortable.  After about 48 hours of break in, I don't ever take it off of my pants regardless of whether or not I am carrying.  I also have the standard IWB as well and it is just as comfortable.  But the Supertuck is money well spent because the adjustability is amazing and if you use the lower mounting holes, it tucks in quite nicely!  I carry an XD-45 and an XD-9 in mine...it works perfectly for both models.  As I said in the other thread, I won't ever buy another holster from anyone else when comfort is the factor!!!!  Hope this helps everyone!

    Re: Crossbreed Supertuck

Update on the Crossbreed Supertuck holster:

    I LOVE THIS THING!!

When you tuck and blouse your shirt you are completely concealed unless you start doing toe touches.  This would be a very good rig for 1911 size guns.  I am back down in Orlando so pictures will have to wait while I do some more "Field Testing".

The only minor negative is that when tucked your waist looks a little wider than normal because of the gun inside your belt, but I guess there is no way to get around that.  Tucking is easier than I thought it would be.  You do need pants about 1-2 inches bigger in the waist. The Kydex is thinner than some but sturdy and light.  The leather backing is stiff, but is already forming to my contours.

    Re: Crossbreed Supertuck

The crossbreed website lists options for extra hooks and clips. Do any of you who have one of these feel the need for extra clips?

    Re: Crossbreed Supertuck

I just switched to the J-hooks for a little more concealment (they don't show as much on your belt), but you lose some gun support because they hang on your pants with the belt over them instead of the other way with standard clips.  I may switch back or try one of each.  At least I have a backup set if I break one.

FWIW...it is cheaper if you get them when you order the holster.

The Crossbreed was my inspiration when I made my own holster.  It really wasn't that hard and now that I've made one I definitely wouldn't spend the kind of money they are asking for what you appear to get.  I also made my own clips but I used 1/8" Kydex so they would be sturdier.

Now that I've been wearing my home made jobby a while I too am finding it very comfortable and hardly notice when I have it on.

I thought about trying to make one, but I chickened out.  Where did you get the Kydex?
