Well, due to the recent tragic loss of my very first gun, my Bersa T380, I found opportunity to replace it with its eldest brother. I got a slightly used Thunder .45. I think I really like this gun. I shot a few mags through it. It seemed kinda dry, but shot well.
Got home from shoosting and immediately had to find a holster for it. Well, of course, I quickly found it in the form of uncut vegetable tanned leather. Lo and behold, it quickly morphed into a beautiful Mahogany Canute, just like I like it.
I'm still working on un-ruining my .380. The problem is the recoil spring is nicley coated with a solid layer of silicone. The entire void between the slide and the frame, where the spring is, was completely filled with silicone. I've gotten it back about 5/8 inch, only a little more, and I can get the slide off. Then I think it'll be salvagable.

Haven't you all seen enough pics of a .45?
About the silicone. It isn't "stuck", it's just inside, where I can't get it out. The silicone company told me to try some Methylene Chloride (nasty stuff, outlawed in CA). I soaked it for several hours, not a dent. I actually tried some thinner for my leather glue, and it had more effect. It expanded the silicone, more than dissolving it.
The silicone itself only sticks to itself. No other material sticks to it. Next to try is sulphuric acid. I know it'll do bad things to the steel, but we're hoping a quick dip, then a rinse in a neutralizer will do it. I mean, it's already ruined as is.
