Bersa Thunder 380 'POCKET HOLSTER' recommendations

Please advise of any 'pocket' holsters that you'd recommend for the standard Thunder 380.  I'm looking for 'inexpensive and ambidextrous' for 'pocket' only.

One such inexpensive holster I am considering is the Uncle Mike's pocket holster.  However, I'm a bit confused as to which model # fits the gun best for pocket carry - 8744-2 or 8744-3 ?  Please advise, and comment on the holster itself, if you can.

Please mention other pocket holsters, also, that you know are compatible with the gun.

I have not received my standard Thunder 380 yet.  I'm going to first try using it in my Mika Pocket Holster for the S&W J-frame and the Nemesis for the same gun.  Comments on what to expect?

    Thanks in advance!

The Uncle Mike's are a good choice, but you need at least a 3. I carry my 380CC in a 4 and it is perfect, the gun slips out  super easy and the holster stays put . I had my choice at my LGS between the 3 and 4 and I chose the 4 for a looser fit.  YMMV.  I have a 2 and it is good for the NAA size mini guns, but not the Bersa. I don't know if you have the CC or not, either will work with either. I am trying a DeSantis pocket holster right now and I think I like the UM #4 better.

I'm getting the standard BT380.  So which UM do you recommend?  The confusion arises from the descriptions on the UM website itself.

Inasmuch as your comments relate to the Thunder CC, now I'm totally confused as to whether I should order -2, -3, or -4.  Crying [:'(]

2 is too small. 3 or 4 will work. If it works on the cc it will work on the regular. I just like the looser fit of the 4. I have been using the 4 for a year now and it is fine. My cc is just a bit smaller than the regular, so I know the 4 will work.

Re: Bersa Thunder 380 'POCKET HOLSTER' recommendations

Your gun is smaller than mine-so-if it's loose in the #4, then mine may not be.

OTOH, the UM website recommends #2 for 'most 380's and the #3 for 2" 5-shot revolvers and Sigma 380.

How does yours fit in the #3, if applicable?

    Thanks for your continuing assistance.

(As an aside, I'm not afraid to take a chance but if I go with the #4 it's entirely outside their recommendations and I really hate to return items for numerous reasons).

Re: Bersa Thunder 380 'POCKET HOLSTER' recommendations

If you buy the 2 the gun won't even go in enough to cover the trigger guard which is mostly what the pocket holster is for. I just tried it again in mine. The #4 is just a tad wider than the 3 and the opening is just a bit bigger, but it still is a nice fit. Remember, you want a loose fit and also you want to break up the shape of the gun. I carry the 4 and the CC in Wrangler jeans or dockers without a problem. Too bad you don't have a LGS to go to try them. I started to buy the 3 because it fit OK, but the 4 was just enough bigger to cover the slide and all. Don't forget that your barrel is longer than mine. What are they getting for it? I think I paid about 10 bucks for mine. After all, it is only a pocket liner to keep lint out of the barrel, cover the trigger and slide, and to break up the outline.

It will take you awhile to get used to it, it feels like a brick at first, but soon you won't even notice it. The best thing is that I can put my hand in my pocket and have the pistol grip in my hand and no one is any the wiser. Nice if you are walking and have a chance encounter, you don't have to be obvious to be ready for a fast draw. As I say, I picked up a DeSantis on Ebay, but I really think the UM is better.

Okay, #2 is out of consideration.  That leaves #3 and #4.

Sorry-don't know what LGS is...oh! 'Local Gun Store'?

I'll call my local guy-see if he has them.  If not, then perhaps I should go with the #4, which I believe you would recommend from your posts.

Mine is in my #4 in my pocket even as we speak. LOL

You should be aware that your 380 won't be quite as comfy in your pocket  as the CC is.

Re: Bersa Thunder 380 'POCKET HOLSTER' recommendations

    Thanks.

The CC isn't legal in California as it's not on the roster of handguns certified for sale Broken Heart [U].

So, though I acknowledge as accurate what you have said, there's nothing I can do about that.  Embarrassed [:$]

My 'LGS' doesn't carry UM pocket holsters, so I guess that I'll just have to order online.

I'll wait for some second opinions as well-but I'll likely go with the #4 because you're comfortably carrying a smaller pistol in it and mine is larger  Stick out tongue [:P]  LOL!

Anyway, maybe someone else will have suggestions on the UM pocket holster as well as other pocket holsters.

I pick up my BT380 Wednesday night after 8 p.m. (State law-240 hour wait/cool-down period).

Re: Bersa Thunder 380 'POCKET HOLSTER' recommendations

Got my standard BT380 Wednesday night last and shot 150 rounds through it yesterday.  Really like that gun!

Anyway, to get back on topic-here's where I am at.

I would have to AGREE with posters on other threads that the STANDARD BT380 is a 'tad' large for pocket carry.  Please make a note of that.

    However, you can do it...

For instance, I have mine now in the left front pocket of a pair of Levi Wrangler jeans in a DeSantis Superfly (the 'Nemesis' with a cover flap).  There is little, if any, noticeable print (no doubt, in part due to that cover flap).

However, the backstrap of the gun is pretty close to the outer rim of the pocket.

A person in grocery line immediately BESIDE your pocket carry side 'might' be able to see the backstrap (only about half an inch or less below the the curved rim of the outer pocket).  Guess one might have to come up with a solution concerning that...

Inasmuch as I already have the Nemesis iteration-the 'SuperFly', (which I had originally purchased for my J-frame!)-I'm going to use that.  The draw from the jeans pocket is clean in spite of the gun snug in there to the rear sights.

So, in light of my already having the DeSantis pocket holster - I don't see any advantage to purchasing an UM #3 or #4 pocket holster at this time due to the size of the standard BT380.  I don't see where there might be any improvement in concealability so I am 'stuck' with that scenario anyway...

    I would've ordered the UM #4 otherwise.

    Hope this helps someone.

UPDATED:  Just back-ordered the UM #4 anyway from Midway.  Embarrassed [:$]  Will report back when received.

I like this one, There is a removable clip on the other side so you can clip it to your belt/pants or you can run your belt around it for a close fit.. Jim

    Update:

Ended up ordering the DeSantis Nemesis for the BT380.

UM #4 is on backorder, same with Bianchi Pocket Change.

I'm already quite pleased with the Nemesis, and it's an ambidextrous pocket holster.  The model # is N38BJ75Z0 and fits Beretta 84,85,85F, Makarov, Browning BDA 380 in addition to the Bersa Thunder 380.  It weighs only 1.4 oz.

TO DRAW:  PULL GUN TOWARD YOU WHILE WITHDRAWING IT FROM HOLSTER.  SHOULD BE A CLEAN DRAW.

    Rumble,

I have one as well that I bought for my T380.  Guess what?  It fits my PF9 better than the T380.  It's a good holster for the $$

Glad to hear you got a better fit with your PF9 or whatever.

Anyway, the fit is fine with the T380 and it draws easily and cleanly.  I'm very pleased with the Nemesis.  Makes me wonder why I went ahead and ordered the UM#4 and the Bianchi Pocket Change.  I may just cancel those while I still can.

Can't buy Kel-Tec here.  Ended up buying a Kahr CW9 yesterday that's on sale.  Have a waiting period.

Wonder if THAT CW9 will fit.
