lot of cleaners to choose from

Ive spent 3 days researching on the web, everything from home made to low dollar ,high dollar.Reds, kleen bore, break free, kleen bore, hoppes,Pro 7,domestic,forigen names I cant even remember, talk forums, cleaning forums everything.
They all claim to be "special"its a hard choice.
Ammiona, kerosene, lighter fluid, citrius oil,all kinds of ingr. a flood of information in solvent bases
    Calling talking to the cust.service.
I cant count all too many, all this over Hoppes and Bersa nickel finish(hoppes is a kerosene) still dont know why its so bad for sure.If you get any metal dissolving solvent thru a small bad spot in the nickel ,it going to get to the copper and you will be in trouble(hoppes seems to be the worst)but be careful with them all.
For ease of avalibilty wal-mart,any gun store, reasonably priced...
Break free CLP kind of a one does all product.
    Break free foaming bore cleaner.
Both   Ammiona, kerosene free, all gun finish safe removes all  copper, lead, carbon, powder, plastic.
Shooters choice seems to be the same as breakfree with cleaning and such non harsh as with BF-CLP.
Shooters Choice hasF-10 as their do all and extreme bore cleaner, the difference between te two is(as far as I found)Break free has a copper de -activator built into the CLP so you can leave a light film on your gun and not have to worry about it eating the copper out from under the nickel finish on the Bersa wich is what I did all this for,The finish on my guns.

And my gun is cocked and loaded,I hope I get me some sleep tonight.

Re: lot of cleaners to choose from

I will be using Break free CLP general cleaning and put away until next shooting outing,Break free foaming bore cleaner for a once a month bore scrubbing(with a lot of shooting) the CLP wiil clean as well as the foam byt the foam will be needed for periodotic scrubbing.
Break free Control will be used for long time storage.
I will contine to use Militec-1 oil (small amount, not all the time) as the CLP should eliminate the need for regular oiling(right? Im not for absolutly sure, will take suggestions on this oil matter).
I will continue to use Militec-1 grease on my rails until gone then I will look at others ,Slide Glide,Ballistol,t-9 lube(will take suggestions on this also).
Will be using a silicone cloth for a wipe down, but not after oiling ,Per Mike T.
And Meguiras Carnuba Wax for winter time protectant.
I would apperisate? any and all feed back.
My testing will be on my grandfathers(now mine)1916 Bertheria 8mm. Lebel rifle it could use some TLC.
Any body want to do the method I will be using ?I would wait until some more
informed and experianced then me chimes in.

I just bought a bottle of CorrosionX.  It's supposed to penetrate thru fouling and anything else to get right to the metal.  I took out my otherwise, impecably clean .45 ACP for the test.  I ran a patch thru the barrel, nothing new.  Then i ran a brush, and came back with another new patch,  black. I alternated this series a few times until I was back to a white in/white out patch.  ended up with  a nice pile of dirty patches.  All this from an otherwise clean barrel.  And I am very particular with cleaning.  I had been using Pro-shot Copper II Solvent.  I might start with it, but will Definitely be finishing with CorrosionX.  Also read that it's great for holding off rust during storage.
Hunting isn't just a matter of life and death, it's much more important than that.

I like the Kiss method. BreakFree, I use both the bottle and the spray, and Synthetic motor oil as a lube.

Breakfree and Hoppes is all I use.

Sure, you have to be careful with the Hoppes, but you should only be putting it inside the barrel. Everything else gets scrubbed with Breakfree. The barrel gets swabbed dry with patches, then a patch wet with CLP to lube and protect.

Small dab of gun grease on the slide rails and you're pretty much done.

Although I highly recommend using the KISS method in dealing with your wife, sharing the concept with your wife obviously violates the meaning of the acronym

Re: lot of cleaners to choose from

I have tried all the expensive gun cleaners and spent a lot of money.  About 6 months ago, on another forum, several reported great results with an orange type cleaner.  When I ran out of Gun Scrubber, I ran to Family Dollar and for $2.14, bought a 40 fl. oz. bottle of Orange Fresh.  Best money I ever spent on a gun cleaner.  I do not use it in the barrel, but on all other surfaces it is great.
Political Correctness is a doctrine fostered by a delusional, illogical liberal minority, and rabidly promoted by an unscrupulous mainstream media, which holds forth the proposition that it is entirely possible to pick up a turd by the clean end.

My Dad only used baby oil on his guns. He claimed his father taught him this. Over the years I told him he was nuts and I was not comfortable using baby oil. Now I have his guns, some are over 70 years old (purchased by my grandfather in the 1930's) and I'm hear to say, they all work flawlessly! What did he know that I dont? Any comments?
