Re: do you carry at work?
I work for a Ginormous telecom company with two obese rent-a-cops (One
laby is about 20 the other is three times that) standing between me and
some disgruntled employee.
Our manual states that you can not carry any wepons on their property.
So not only can I not carry in doors I can not store it in my truck
while at work.
Some times I wonder if the sheeple in charge are even on the same
planet as I am, thinking that a criminal is going to follow the
employee handbook when it comes time to snap.
I have a license and want to have the ability to defend myself......Seems like a no-brainer to me.

Re: do you carry at work?
I carry "to work"...then lock it in my Jeep. It's 20 feet from where I park to the door I enter. We have keycard building access and a no weapons in the building policy. I've been with my company for over 25 years, I'd like to keep it that way. However, as soon as I get in the Jeep to drive home, the first thing I do is pocket my KTP3AT. Jack

Re: do you carry at work?
Our company (in Cincinnati) has a "no guns" policy in the employee handbook, but it is not posted anywhere on the building. So an employee could probably legally challenge it, but would you want to work there anymore. BUT, I'm certainly not going to lock my pistol in my car either, don't have that much faith in the people that staff the parking lot next to my building.
We've had violent purse snatching in the lot behind our building, vagrants practically assault peole looking for handouts in front of our building, and an assault and robbery of the attendant in the aforementioned parking lot booth next to our building. So for me the question isn't do I carry to and from work, but would I get fired if I had to use it to protect people in (entering or leaving) the office?

Re: do you carry at work?
I retired from a large telecom company whose policy was no guns on company property or in company trucks at any time, ever, and the penalty was immediate dismissal. No appeal, no union hearing, nothing. If you’re caught with a gun in your possession you’re terminated on the spot and escorted off the premises. The union, CWA, is in full agreement with the policy.
I never carried at work and never got my ccw permit till after I retired. I don’t know of anyone who carried at work, but I believe I know of someone who did carry concealed at work, although I didn’t figure it out until after I retired. I was working in a trench and this co-worker was standing near the trench and I needed him to move his foot, so I tapped him on the ankle and felt something hard under his pantleg. I asked him what it was and he grinned uneasily and told me it was an ankle brace. Only after I acquired an ankle holster myself did I figure it out. Oh well, I wasn’t a detective, and I’ve never had a suspicious nature. ![Embarrassed [:$]](/emoticons/emotion-10.gif)
In Utah the law is written that any church can register with the BCI as not allowing guns on their premises, so Jarhead probably goes to one of those churches that don’t allow it. It doesn’t seem right, but it’s the law. I figure if the church wants me to attend, then I will, but I won’t advertize what I’m carrying concealed under my clothing. I suspect there are a lot of people like me who have the same attitude. And we don’t feel like our souls are in danger because of it. So far I’m unaware of any "incident" in any church here in Utah, but I imagine sooner or later there’s bound to be one.

All of our facilities in the USA have big "no guns" signs on every door. So I don't carry one past the door. I like my job, I'd like to continue working for my company. ![Wink [;)]](/emoticons/emotion-5.gif) In the six different facilities (four in 2 states and 2 in Mexico) I've worked at for them in the past 25+ years, there have been no gun related incidents on company property. I don't know about the other all of our other facilities scattered throughout the world, only the ones I've worked at. My Jeep is parked 50 feet from the main guard house. Our guards take their jobs fairly seriously. I've never had anything taken from one of my vehicles. My gun is concealed in a locked compartment in my Jeep from the time I park at work until the time I get into it to go home. Then it is concealed upon me! Jack

Re: do you carry at work?
Not here. While the employee hand book does not prohibit it, it does not say it is allowed either. Better safe than sorry. Double edged sword thin.
Not as safe without the gun but safe from losing my job.

If somebody had been armed in my company office that day .Maybe My friends wouldn't be dead now . People on disability because of mental breakdown I sure the wounded and others from that day all remember and still have some problems from it.
The shooter was a X employe from our Atlanta office. Hadn't worked for company for over a year.. But chose Our office for his shooting. I rate Cinci. area very high on list of hi crime cities.
You neever know where and when crime will happen to you . If you did you could stay home that day or change what you were doing to advoid it.
A Kel Tec in a neck holster could make the difference. Loss of job better than loss of life. When I was a suiter I carried a Bauer 25 around my neck on kite string. Grab pull and ready 25 better nothing.
