I use the militec-1 grease as well.  Works great. Only problem is it's a bit smelly, but not too bad. All my pistols will be lubed with it until I run out.  Which will probably be never.

    Luke M:
In year round warm to hot weather.  What is best lube?  Oil? Grease? Tephlon bicycle chain lube?  Which brands?

    Luke M,

I like Breakfree. It's been my main lube since I started shooting 22's. Currently I have a shelve full of oil/lubricants and am trying to use it all up. My belief now is that they all perform the same duty regardless of what they claim.

    Re: Best Lube

I just recieved my free samples from miltec yesterday. They sent some oil along with a small tube of the grease.Three days from the time i ordered, not bad. From what i read, the hair dryer method seems to work ok for heating purposes?I am also curious to know if you all did the two coats or just one,and does it seem to last as long as they say.I am going to try it on my guns this weekend and try the heating by shooting method as well as the other to see if there is any noticable differences.

What kind of grease did Militec-1 send to you?  Is it for firearms also?

I also got free samples from Mil-Tec.  The oil is specifically made for guns as is the grease.  I use the grease on the slide tracks but not near any smaller parts.  It seems to work very well.  I may have to buy some next time.

Hello Pickateer. It`a label reads"MILITEC-1,Grease,but also say`s synthetic metal conditioner",and can in fact be used on guns.I just e-mailed them inquiring about a free sample of their oil and they sent the grease along with it.If you have a sample coming,it will more than likely have the grease with it as well.Big Smile [:D]

I believe i am also going to try the grease on the slide rails and the oil on the other parts myself.I am going to try and heat it by going to the range if time allows.School cloths shopping first.Ick! [+o(]lol

What ever happened to just plain ole gun oil. I've used Remington (rem oil) for years as well as Outers, and Hoppies without a glitch, still do!

    Hawgleg,

I use Rem Oil too for cleaning and lubing small moving parts. Just remember to shake the bolltle to disperse the teflon particles before usage.

Outers oil is good too because it's synthetic and it's thicker than Rem Oil.

Hoppies is good ole oil before all the others came along. Great stuff for you wifes sowing machine and good for lubing capabilities but it doesn't have anything special like teflon.

Still for me overall my oil of preference is Breakfree.

    Re: Best Lube

I also got the free sample of the Militec-1 a while ago. If you clean your barrel spot free then swab it with the grease and shoot to get the barrel hot then clean and do it again you can just swab the barrel after shooting and the barrel comes clean as new without ever having to use a brush to scrub out the lead or copper. Great stuff. Just my 2 cents.

maybe a good grease, but does NOTHING for corrosion.  I trust Eezox, CLP, and Tetra grease.

I use Finish Line Teflon dry bicycle chain lube. It doesn't attract dirt on my mountain bike chain or my guns ( living here in canyonlands there is a lot of dust and sand to attract w/oil ).
