    Best Lube

In year round warm to hot weather.  What is best lube?  Oil? Grease? Tephlon bicycle chain lube?  Which brands?

I've been impressed with the Militec-1 stuff so far. I have only cycled about 500 rds since I got a sample, but it seems to be working as advertised. I'm seeing no wear and it cleans easily. It is almost dry so it hasn't been gathering grit and fluff too.
Time will tell but it is looking good. And, this free sample they sent me is lasting way longer than I expected too.

I`ve never used the miltec, but have been using Breakfree CLP and it does a good job with cleaning and lubricating and seems to last a long time.I am however curious about the miltec oil to compare the difference.

    Re: Best Lube

I have started using this on all my pistols... originally I bought the KG7 moly dry lube for my P22 on the recommendation of other owners because of it "slickness" and the fact that it doesn't attact gun powder.... so I tried it on all the slides of my pistols...   really does an excellent job.. cleaning time has been reduced as the accumlation of powder has been reduced... I still use RemOil in the places that need oil, but use KG7 dry moly on the slides and other high friction areas..

Of course, I do not represent KG Coatings or work for them and YMMV...

    Re: Best Lube

I use CLP Break Free on everything. If gun is really dirty I will use Hoppes solvent first to get the bulk of crap off and then finish with CLP. Whatever coating it leaves on makes it easier to clean next time.

The door handle lock and dead bolt on my garage door was all gummed up, sticking. I was going to take it off and clean it out and dry lube it. Sprayed CLP in it worked it a little and works like new!

    Re: Best Lube

I have been using the Otis Ultra Bore for cleaning and then a little Rem Oil on the slide for extra lube.  Any opinions?  This is my first pistol, so I'm not to confident on the best lubrication and how much.  Does anyone use grease instead of oil or cleaning/lube solvent?

    Re: Best Lube

I have not used it but just looked it up and it seems to as good (or better) as any of them out there. As long as the pistol is clean and has a little lube on the moving parts you should be fine.

    Re: Best Lube

Thanks for the link. That was interesting. I might do a similar test to see how the CLP protects against corrosion caused by mild acid solution which might form from powder residue or even acid rain (air pollution)

When I sent them an email, they responded and sent the sample the next business day.  In all, less than one week.

I use Gun Butter on my muzzle loaders and I love it.  It is supposed to “Season” the barrel and make it slicker and fowl less.  Which it seems to do.  You have to be careful with it in more complicated firearms, however.  It tends to gum up the works.

    Re: Best Lube

Lucky Americans with all this 'free sample' bidness... :-)
Over on this side of the big urinal, I have to BUY all my lube.

After all the specialized "gun" lubes I've tried, including Breakfree
and FP-10, I've settled on synthetic motor oil.
Cheap (like I am) as all get out, doesn't gum up, and no smell.
The OP was asking about hot weather use, and it's tropical over here.

    Cheers,
    horge
