I live in California.  The wait is approximately 67.5 years.  After that, a mandatory criminal sensitivity seminars for approximately 70 Saturday afternoons.  Buy the book" I kill but I'm not all bad" for $93.00

THEN a small test to determine you know the rules.  50 essay questions, 800 multiple choice and a 45 minitue time limit.

Finally, I have to dress in drag, kiss a poster of Hillary and sing a Clay Aikens medely.

We can only carry the following concealed guns:

single shot shotgun with earth friendly, criminal sensitive styrofoam birdshot with a neon sign that says "Here come da gun dude"

But hey, we got Disneyland right

I received mine in just under 90 days.  My brother and I submitted on the same day, he had his in 45 days or less.  We sent in fingerprint cards, which mine had to be resubmitted, but I eventually got it.

I got mine in Fairfax County , Virginia. Probably the most anti-gun county in the state. You have to submit
the state police application ,your proof of residence, gun safety class certificate or military form dd214
ALL IN TRIPLICATE. Turn it in to the county clerk in the exact order that they say on the county guidline
or "NO SOUP FOR YOU" They will make you come back if it is not in the proper order.
I got the carry permit 45 days later in the mail.  They didn't require fingerprints.
My daughter applied a couple counties away and they required fingerprints. She got hers in about 30 days with a lot less paperwork.

Funny Thing. In Virginia   the card reads "PERMIT TO CARRY A CONCEALED HANDGUN"
 They wanted to rule out knives and other bladed weapons.
 The permit is good for 5 years.  What is the length in other states??

That is interesting about  the "Permit To Carry A Conceal Handgun" .  In Michigan they call our permits  CPL.  "Conceal Pistol License"  That is so you can't conceal any other kind of of gun.    I just had to renew my CPL this week and it cost me $105.00. They are good for 5 years.  But that isn't quite right either.  My CPL is up 07/17/08 so I'll loss about 6 months on this one.  It will be renewed on my birthday in Dec. down the road.  So I'll only really get 4 1/2 years out of this one.  But then the next one will be for 5 years.  They also use electronic finger printing now.  So I had to get finger printed this time.  Are we all having fun yet.    It is a great day up here in Michigan.

Also got mine in northern VA (see above) - Alexandria city - very liberal. Took the class, filled out the paperwork, got fingerprinted at the police station (in VA they have to return or destroy the fingerprints - no permanent record).  Clerk said it would take 45 days - I got it in 22!  I'm a happy camper.

In Stark County,( Canton) Ohio it took me 10 days after I filed, 12 counting taking the course.  There is another county 60 mi. away that will do it the same day.

My girlfriend just got notice that she will be getting hers on June 11th.  That's 78 days from when we applied.  That is also a far cry from the 16 days it took to get mine.

Good ol Rowan county took 68 days to process (got mine today).  I would have had it 2 weeks sooner but seems I submitted DD Form 214 Personel Copy #1 instead of the DD Form 214 Personal Copy #4!  The Sheriff Capt. said he needs to see the line which reads "Honorable Discharge", nothing else will do.

Took my CCW class on Saturday, May 31st, applied for permit at Sheriff's dept. Monday June, 2nd, had permit in mailbox Saturday, June 7th. They have up to 30 days to respond to permit requests. I thought it was pretty quick considering I live in the liberal state of Minnesota. $100 for the class, $100 for the five year permit.

not to long in michigan just had to take the ccw gun coarse go in front of the county gun board and the county prostecutor that had the background check no felonies or any thing like that first time I think was 3days.And after that just have to pay the going fee to renew.Had mine now for eight years and still going.All you have to do is obey the law and mind your own business and no problems here

My experience in Renton, WA, was right at 30 days (what they told me to expect).  Their workload must have increased since kimigirl applied a year ago (April 2007).
