Well I can only speak for the older ones I have one from Sonny Crockett time early 80's. I bought used and have no idea how many rounds have been fired.
It has been relieable and accurate for what it is. . Recoil not bad . Now the short grip takes getting used to 2 fingers on grip and pinky hanging out.. And it ain't lite. almost same weight as full size
Little info when you install a fully loaded mag the mag follower will stick out bottom They used to advertized as a way to tell mag fully loaded.(6 rounds) really was a way to chop mag and make work properly and hold 6 rounds. The forward sight and the slighty slanted flat top . Well the orginal designer and owner of company didn't like cocked and locked carry. So this was done so when drawing you could thumb *** easlier.( this was time people carried both ways World didn't always carry Cocked and locked That was Col. Cooper teaching and pushing ) Their is no grip safety ..
Now this was the first Compact 1911 ,first bull barrel, they were first with 3 dot sights, also first with the double then triple recoil springs . Mine came from factory with Pach grips and mainspring housing from factory.
First guns will say Seattle Wa. next group(mine) Bellevue Wa. Then company went under Next rose again in Phoniex Az. Closed down. Was again reborn in Atl. Ga. owned by a paper back and gun writer . Jerry something. Got in to some kind of trouble and sold to another company. Their in southern Il near St Louis . Are new ones worth it I don't think so I paid 1/2 that for mine Used but still in great shape . Can fine good used ones if you are willy to look and take time.
My self I belive the Colt Defender or the New Agent are better pistols. Their cheaper and a lot lighter . Just slighty larger. Have grip safety . I would buy a older one for what it is and the Colt for carry. I only carry mine now and then.
