    .380 Ammo

I was at a gun shop looking for some Cor Bon DPX.  They didn't have any but said Magtech First Defense 77gr. SCHP was just as good?  I bought a box to try.  It's about $10 cheaper than the DPX.  Has anyone used this "new" Magtech stuff?

    Re: .380 Ammo

When a clerk tell me just as good I always ask have they tested it them selves. 99.9% o time answer will be no  Then you ask them how do they know just as good.Smile [:)]

Its, so so not in DPX class. In many test failed to expand at all.  I have had no luck with their HP Used to use the ball for practice . Their one of the companys that has +P on the package.   try it and report back  . If you can't find DPX then pick a name brand HP, Remington has a big following as does Federal.  Bottom line is test, make sure relieable in your pistol , and see if you can get it to expand. Once again people test in a zillion ways.  I think the water jugs is best for testing.  Others think phone books  meat chunks  Ham  side of beef , .

    Re: .380 Ammo

If I can't find DPX locally, I order it online. It ain't cheap, but I ain't going to shoot a boatload of the stuff. It's my carry ammo.

DPX is available right now at Cheaper Than Dirt. Here's a link: http://cheaperthandirt.com/40208-48011-176.html

    Re: .380 Ammo

I bought speer gold dot 90 gr hp in bulk of 250 rounds from this website (tactical defense solutions) for $65.00 plus shipping. It didn't pass underwater requirements so it was rejected but great to use for defense (unless you want to shoot under water after 30 minutes.  http://www.tds-us.com/catalog.php/tds/dt52872/Speer_Gold_Dot_LEO

    Re: .380 Ammo

Anybody have any experience with the 102g Rem Golden Sabres?  I have read good things about the ballistics, and they're about the only decent HP I can find consistently in my neck of the woods, but I was wandering how well they would taste to my Thunder .380.

Golden sabre is my current carry round for my 380CC.  Never had one fail to feed, fire, or extract.

    Re: .380 Ammo

That's great news.  I've put a couple hundred Rem and WWB FMJs through it already, but have yet to manage to get to the range to test out the 102g GS.  I hope my experience mirrors yours.

    Re: .380 Ammo

MT nailed it.  You can contact Cor Bon/ Dakota arms and set up a retail account and they'll ship it out.  Granted, its retail pricing, but it's so popular you can't expect much better.  It's worth it, its your life.

    Mag tech bites, BTW
