    Weird Jamming Issue

    Greetings!

I bought Mrs. Weazel a Bersa Thunder for Valentine's Day and she loves how the pistol feels in her hand and how it looks. What she doesn't care for is how often this thing jams.

She gets an odd jam that she described as a 'double-feed' which I didn't understand until I saw it with her yesterday. The round trying to get into the chamber is high and forward, pointing down in about a 4 o'clock position and the round under it is trying to get into the chamber as well. This happens with WWB ammo and S&B. These are the only two types of ammo we've tried so far as the total round count of the pistol is about 200 now. (We also noticed that sometimes the S&B will have to be struck twice in the primer to make them go 'bang')

    Strange...

She's not getting any 'Stovepipes' so I don't think she's limp-wristing it and I believe this is happening with either of the two mags we have.

I've had a few pistols over the years by my experience with the fixed barrel/blowback design is limited. I will try aligning the cut end of the recoil spring at the 12:00 position just in case that causes some sort of 'Voodoo Anti-Jamming Hex' to take effect.

I've read C. Royce Honeycutt's letter on this subject...

Mrs. Weazel loves how her Bersa fits and the mild recoil of the 380 round. She doesn't mind shooting my polymer 9mm but she prefers her Bersa, so I'd really like to get this thing fixed.

    Thanx in advance.

    Weazel

P.S. I've attached a pic of myself with my latest pistol. I'm looking for a nice Concealed Carry holster for it, so if you know of any please let me know.

    Re: Weird Jamming Issue

Hi Road Weazel and welcome.....I am glad Mrs.Weazel is enjoying her pistol....the recoil spring also has a tighter fit on one end and this end should be toward the breech end of the barrel...I have had feeding issues caused by incorrect placement of the recoil spring....Also, do you have more than one magazine??? Others here have had problems with non-factory magazines....I only have factory mags (3) and other than the recoil spring issue, I really haven't had any problems....I did wear the springs out in one of my magazines...but that is easily remedied, and help is on the way for it ....since the two other mags work fine in either of my pistols, and the magazine misbehaves in either, I know it is the culprit......

BTW, if you find a holster for your pistol, you may let everyone know, there might be others looking too....Wink [;)]..Welcome again....

    Re: Weird Jamming Issue

We have two factory Bersa mags, both new with the gun. The jamming problem was evident from the start, before the gun was ever disassembled by the Weazel. I just got done playing with a Polish P-64 whose trigger wouldn't work in DA mode if there was a round in the chamber, so I guess I know a little more about PPK-ish pistols than I let on. I am aware of the proper fit of the spring, altho I've never heard of having to put the cut end at the 12:00 position before. It sounds like a placebo fix but I'll give it a shot anyway...

    Thanx!
