    Grips

How often do you take the grips off of the pistol and clean in area where the magazine inserts?

Is there a reccommeded time to do this?  Normally I just stick a rag up in there and clean mine.

    What's your opinion?

    Re: Grips

I due every 3rd or 4th cleaning. Of course I don't shoot dirty ammo. Nor do I shoot 200 or more rounds at a sitting.

Never pull trigger with the grips off or you might have trouble with linkage coming off.  just my 02

Thanks Michael.  I didn't know if that was a area to worry about.  Other than removing the screw on the grips is there anyother thing to be concerned about?

I assume that you are talking about a T380.  There is one little dinky part that is under the right hand grip.  It is a little E-Clip (I refer to it as the "Infamous E-Clip") that holds the trigger linkage together.  Don't bother looking for it on the parts diagram because it isn't on the parts diagram, but the part is there nonetheless.  Anyway, that little bugger can break -- I know, it has happened to me twice -- and when it goes, so does the trigger linkage.  You need to keep an eye on that little dude and make sure that it is in good shape.  20-20 hindsight says that you can tell when that guy breaks because the trigger suddenly gets real "gritty" feeling.  After a few rounds of that, it will start malfunctioning and the gun is basically a paperweight.  If it gets that far, you are already in trouble (ask me how I know.Stick out tongue [:P]).  It is best to catch it at the "gritty" stage, because the linkage is still intact at that point.  Oh, and the clip itself is trivially easy to replace, as long as the linkage hasn't come apart.  It's just an E-Clip, after all.

FWIW, you can order the E-Clips from Eagle Imports, but you can't do it from their website.  You have to call them on the land line (stone knives and bearskins, I say!) and ask them for it.  They are dirt cheap.  I'd get a few and have them on hand.
