Nickel Finish - Safe Cleaners and Lubricants?

Would I be safe using Rem-Oil on my nickel finish Firestorm Mini 9mm?  I'm fairly certain the answer is yes, but want to be sure since I just got the gun.

What is the ingredient(s) in cleansers/lubricants that harms nickel finishes?

Thanks in advance for the assistance!

Ralmanza,  If you do a search and/or just read back through the postings regarding Nickle and Cleaning you'll see to stay away from the ammonia based cleaners, e.g. Hopps #9 and I'm sure others.

I use Breakfree CLP and a little Rem-Oil in the slide channels.  Seems to work for I've got approx. 600 rounds through my little 380CC and no problems.

Good Luck and hope you enjoy your Bersa.

I'm trying to find out if anyone has specific experience using Rem Oil on a nickel finish.  There are unfortunately no ingredients listed on the container and I can't for the life of me find anything online about exact contents of Rem Oil.

Re: Nickel Finish - Safe Cleaners and Lubricants?

For the most part, your nickel in real danger if you have a nick or chip and you use the hot solvents (kerosene, amionia, and others) that aggressively remove COPPER and or other shooting metals. If  you have a chip or other and the solvents get under the nickel finish they can desolve the copper which is what the nickel finish is adheared to and then you most likely get peeling and other problems with the finish.
Break Free products seem to be the cleaners of choice here at Bersa Talk,Also I use Militec 1 oils& grease.
