Any body else had any experience with this Slide Glide stuff.  It sounds really cool. definitely getting the militec but this sounds great for the slide.  Pros? cons?

I will throw in my 2 cents....

Liquid Wrench Dry lube outside and in the fine mechanisms (trigger, firing pin etc..).  And I use 10W-30 synthetic on the slide rails with a drop of rem oil here and there.  I have also used 10W-30syn on the outside of my matte 380cc to help prevent rust.Yes [Y]

Can this dry lube be found at Wally World?

    Yep.  Got it at wallyworld.

Got the slide glide,  great product, smooths out any metal on metal like a champ and stays put.  Back to the title of this post, what would be the fastest, most effective solvent to remove grease/oil/carbon/lead and other build up from use.  A spray with an extention tube would be nice (like WD40) to force out junk from the tight spots.  There may not be a "magic bullet" but is there a magic cleaner.  I'll look back over the previous posts here but if anyone knows the magic, safe for all surfaces, super solvent lets hear it.  probably expecting too much, but it's worth a go. what do you guys think.

There are scores of cleaners I haven't tried (can one person try them all?), and very few that I have (cuz once you find something you like, you stick with it, right?)... but of the ones I've tried at one time or another--which include Hoppe's #9 & Break Free CLP, by the way--I tip my hat to M-Pro 7 (http://www.mp7.com). The manufacturer claims it's safe to use on all finishes, and I've personally used it on nickel. I did my own test with this stuff... I cleaned a bore with Hoppe's, then recleaned it with M-Pro 7. I was both surprised & impressed with how much fouling the M-Pro 7 removed, even after I had just cleaned the bore with Hoppe's. You can use it indoors, too (no smell), which makes the wife happy. I love the stuff... but of course, YMMV.

Gotta warn you, though. I know of one person who claims that M-Pro 7 put a spot into the finish of one of his guns. It's a water-based cleaner, so make sure you remove it completely from your weapon (including any nooks & crannies it might sneak into if you're not careful)... and apply oil, because it leaves a "molecularly clean" surface (in other words, unprotected). Personally, I haven't had any problem with the stuff.

I also like Bullfrog Rusthunter Weapon Wipes for 'quick' jobs while away from the home. Bullfrog Lubricant & Rustblocker (that's one product, not two) is supposed to be excellent for storage, too, though I personally dislike aerosol dispensers. In fact, I can "kind of" attest to how good it works. I was trying to use it up, and I sprayed it onto a shovel (one of two) that I keep outdoors stored by the trash cans. The unprotected shovel, a pick-axe, and a hoe are rusty, but the shovel I sprayed is bright & shiny. Same is true for a cast iron chiminea on the patio... the protected part (before I ran out) is shiny, the unprotected part isn't. I'm a believer; and it also got a great write-up in a couple gun magazines (that I know of, probably more). See the full line of Bullfrog products at http://www.bullfrog.com.

Safe for all surfaces.  Simple Green.  That'll take the grease off.  Windex also worked well for me during a barrel break-in (for solvents).  or with the tube, why not wd-40, then one of the others.  All easy to get, cheap and effective.

In the article linked further up in the thread the author recommends automatic transmission fluid for lubrication.  He says it has the right mixture of qualities needed to protect the workings of a gun and is also cheap and easy to come by.

    Anybody ever use it?

I've never used ATF on any of my guns , but have used it for lots of other lube jobs including drill bit lube when drilling on the drill press....works wonders! I have a empty Breakfree bottle (4 oz, I think) that I popped the top out of and filled with ATF ....that sit on my self next to the PB Blaster, Squirt can with 10w40....I find myself reaching for the ATF most!

I use Breakfree CLP on my guns.
