There's a resaurant here in town that makes a really great chocolate cake. I didn't think I was a cake person, but after eating that cake, I am. Yum. Big Smile [:D]

    Re: Favorite Dessert?

Well this post is making me seriously hungry...

I have to say its a toss up between 'nanner puddin' and peach cobbler with vanila bean icecream.

Ben and bills ice cream in downtown bar harbor three blocks from where i work serves wicked good ice cream, including...        Chocolate Guinnuss Ice Cream! (my favorite)

O and for the daring, they have a legendary butter/lobster ice cream too (yes it has real fresh maine lobter in it and was featured twice on food tv) by the way, they ship if you want to buy someWink [;)]

I believe I tried that chocolate stout ice cream when I was in Bahabba once.Wink [;)]

Thank you for the recipe Stid.  It looks like something simple yet complicated looking.  I have a feeling I am going to need to explore that one further.

    Re: Favorite Dessert?

Well for camping and outings you can't beat a good pech cobbler!

For sit downs at home a Key Lime pie is hard to beat!

    Re: Favorite Dessert?

Mine?  Without a doubt, it is SWMBO's real genuine Key Lime Pie.  Made with real, genuine Key Limes (same thing as Mexican Limes, BTW).  They are the little ones with seeds.  She got the recipe from some high-falutin' restaurant down in the Keys.  My job is squeezing all of those itty bitty limes.  I do know that it takes that Eagle brand sweetened condensed milk.  Oh, and it just so happens that I've got 2 real, genuine key lime bushes in containers (along with a Satsuma and a Meyer's lemon) -- I've been nursing them along since we lived in Louisiana.  After all, there are times when you can't get real, genuine key limes.  Accept No Substitutes!

BTW -- you can tell fake Key Lime Pie because it is green.  REAL Key Lime Pie is closer to yellow.  Yum!

    --------------- Added -------------
I did a quick search of the Food Network site and found this recipe for Key Lime Pie.  It is VERY similar, if not identical, to how SWMBO makes it.  REAL KEY LIMES ONLY!!!  She doesn't bother with making the crust from scratch, she just buys the pre-made pie shells at the store, and she usually doesn't bother with the topping.  If she is really making a special one, she pulls out the KitchenAid mixer and some heavy whipping cream and does a whipped cream topping from scratch.  Yum!
