Break in your new BT380 with  quality FMJ (full metal jacket) rounds such as Winchesters, you can get a carton of 100 for $30 at WalMart, shoot at least 300 before it is considered reliable for your concealed carry weapon than move to a good hollowpoint self defence round, my favorite is Golden Sabres or Corbon DPX either will suit you well and the majority of folks here will say the same I believe. Whatever you do, PLEASE keep one in the chamber, hammer down and safety off using the DA trigger for the safety!!! That is the correct way of carrying a Bersa. Someday your life or life of a loved one might depend on you and your BT380 being ready to defend,, in a stressful situation you just don't realise how confusing things get like getting your weapon out of your holster from under clothing , trying too pull the slide back to chamber a round and at the same time trying to stay alive, trust me been there done that and it ain't no fun.  

   

Thanks for the tips on rounds and holsters. I'm trying to find a good holster for carrying right now. The simple ones from Academy or Gander Mountain just aren't satisfying. I also appreciate the advice on using only the DA as a safety. Thats one reason I'm looking for the right holster.

You bring up a strong case and point in carrying with the DA trigger as the safety only, I can only hope I never have to use the pistol or be in the same situation as you have been before, but the way things are getting these days just sadly raises the possibilities.

I'll go further to say use a good quality holster that covers the trigger and trigger guard on the BT.380

This will keep anything from accidentally getting inside the trigger guard untill you draw and index your sights on the target.

Congrats on your new pistol.  The Bersa line of pistols is very safe.  I once dropped my .380 on the floor with a round in the chamber, hammer down, and safety off.  The firearm landed on the hammer and still didn't go off.  I would not recommend trying this for yourself   The  .380 is also capable of partial ***.  If you pull the hammer back slightly it will click and lock in place about 1/8" off of the firing pin, this doesn't effect the double action trigger pull.

As far as holsters go you'll get a lot of recommendations for Nate Gable at UBG Holsters http://www.ubgholsters.com  the reason for that is because his work is very good and he happens to be a member of Bersa Talk.

Oh, another way to check to see if your decocker is working is by taking your completely unloaded pistol and dropping a pencil (eraser end first) down the barrel.  Point the barrel up and engage the decocker.  If the pencil jumps the decocker is not functioning (the firing pin hit the pencil eraser).  If the pencil doesn't jump the decocker is working as designed.

What I discovered is that although the DA trigger pull is the same in the 1/4 cocked position, the trigger does come a tiny bit closer towards me before it encounters the DA resistance.  I figure the closer to the feel of single action, the better, so that's how I carry (one in the pipe, 'safety' off and 1/4 cocked).
